Valassis is immediately hiring a Director of Product Managment to join our team in San Francisco.
The owns the management and reporting of products and projects. Role includes gathering and prioritizing product and end user requirements, evaluating and managing third party vendor relationships, defining the product vision and working closely with engineering, operations and QA to communicate and deliver that vision.
Responsibilities:
• Define the product strategy and roadmap. Work closely with end users to generate and prioritize product enhancements.
• Effectively communicate technology to business users & business requirements to technical users. Manage product/project documentation, communications, meetings, and required follow-up.
• Understand and implement standard product management practices. Develop project schedules and milestones based on business objectives and timing requirements
• Manage third-party solution evaluations and implementations. Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities. Assessment of appropriate technologies, solution designs, and vendor selections
• Be the expert with respect to the product’s capabilities and vision. Developing and implementing a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute.
Education & Knowledge
• Bachelor’s degree and 8-10 years of experience in product management OR Master’s degree and 5-7 years of experience in product management.
• Experience with Agile software development, Jira, and a remote engineering team is a plus.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
• Experience with CRM (Salesforce.com), quoting and/or order management systems
• Experience with SQL, big data, BI, and ETL systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Previous experience in the online advertising industry
• Demonstrated success in defining and launching excellent products
• Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
• UI design experience a plus
Experience / Skills / Abilities
• Document and communicate a product roadmap tied to milestones
• Translate requirements into epics and stories with acceptance criteria
• Prioritize and manage those on Jira Scrum and Kanban boards
• Participate in daily engineering stand-up meetings
• Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples
• Assist with technical due diligence activities
• Communicate progress, issues, and status to all relevant parties both internal and external
• Regularly communicate issues and solution approaches to senior management
• Continuously assess project risk factors and recommend appropriate mitigation
