Summary:
The Associate Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of the tactical media plan and its proper implementation, working with other disciplines (National TV, Local Broadcast, OOH, and Research) to execute the overall media strategy for each film in the context of changing marketplace conditions and opportunities. A minimum of eight years’ experience preferred.
Some experience doing media planning for an entertainment account (theatrical, home entertainment, gaming, TV networks) is essential.
Responsibilities:
• Develops and maintains the tactical Media Plan
• Working with the Director, as well as implementation groups, develops budget allocations across media and media mix scenarios
• Extensive experience planning National TV is critical as it forms the backbone of nearly all campaigns.
• Strong knowledge of all media types including radio, outdoor, and digital is preferred
• Provides day-to-day direction to implementation groups for the tactical plan
• Maintains and communicates up-to-date records of the implementation of the plan
• Helps manage workload of subordinates and ensures that deadlines are met
• Review work of subordinates and ensures that all work is thorough and accurate
• Provides research and analysis to deal with various issues that arise in the execution of the tactical plan
• Should be familiar with TV planning tools such as reach & frequency systems, Simmons, MRI, etc.
Skills & Experience:
• MUST have entertainment experience
• MUST have some prior agency experience
• Strategic planning experience:
• Ability to develop big picture, strategic insights
• Ability to develop creative cross-media ideas
• Target development
• Experience developing/planning/executing multi-media programs
• Ability to apply strategic insights during plan development
Skills & Experience (continued):
• Media experience:
• Extensive National TV planning a must
• Local TV/Radio, OOH and Digital a plus
• Exposure/understanding of media research tools
• Must possess the following attributes:
• Accustomed to fast-paced accounts and tight deadlines
• Be able to multi-task well
• Well organized
• Ability to train junior staff effectively
• Professional and articulate (verbally and in written form)
• Comfortable being client-facing
• Extremely detail oriented
• Proficient in Excel
Systems & Tools:
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong Excel skills critical
• Familiarity with planning and research tools such as Simmons, MRI, Kantar, Reach & Frequency systems
• Media Tools and Donovan Data Systems is a plus but not required
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a concentration in advertising, marketing, business administration, and communications
• Minimum of five years’ experience as a Planning Manager preferred
