An award-winning global PR agency, Citizen Relations, is a best-in-class agency working with some of Canada’s best known brands, corporations, government and not-for-profit organizations.
Our Toronto office is growing and we’re actively searching for the ideal candidate to join our team.
THE ROLE
As an Associate Account Director you are responsible for working closely with the VP of Account Services and leading client teams and programs. You are responsible for fully owning your client base, ensuring that campaigns are running smoothly and that your teams are challenged and motivated. You write, present concepts, and develop strategies to best suit your client needs and market trends. As a key account team member you are responsible for leading and managing accounts and would need to be flexible and willing to step in and support your teams whenever needed.

The candidate must display an in-depth understanding of consumer and brand communications, media relations and engaging digital Canadians. As part of this role, the candidate will:
• Write and edit strategic communications materials when needed.
• Oversee a team of junior account service professionals and ensure campaigns are being executed flawlessly and on time
• Develop and execute the strategy behind campaigns
• Maintain an understanding of the evolving media landscape (traditional and online)
• Hold strong media and client relationships
• Serve as quality control and ensure only the highest quality work is delivered to clients
• Responsible for budgets and project management responsibilities to ensure account profitability, timelines are met and being able to manage unforecastable events
• Provide overall strategic PR counsel to clients and internal teams.
• Demonstrate ability to lead others and remains calm under pressure; perform regular management and coaching of staff
• Participate in new business development by increasing business with existing clients
• Quality control - Pays close attention to detail, content and formatting, ensuring outputs are of the best possible standard
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Background – 7 years or more of communications experience in agency or corporation. Agency experience preferred
• Strategic thinker – Creative and analytical in gathering information about clients’ industries and business.
• Advisor - Demonstrates an excellent understanding of the clients’ businesses, runs effective client meetings and shows a high level of integrity in providing advice and counsel to support teams
• Team player – Who understands the importance of advanced planning, well designed processes and measurement as tools to help optimize the long term success of group and team activities
• Media relations – Strong understanding of storytelling. Excellent and persuasive verbal communications skills
• Previous senior management experience where you were responsible for independently managing a client and a team
• Strong mentor and coach with previous people management experience
• Demonstrated results in public relations work, client service and account leadership.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with plan execution.
• Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Highly accountable and organized with excellent time management skills.
