Job Description
The Account Director position will be a part of the North America based group responsible for leading a team in developing a brand campaign that works across a media mix inclusive of TV, print, banners, content sponsorships, and social media.
The ideal candidate has mastered the AD core competencies. They are an advisor and partner to the client at the Sr. manager and marketing director levels. They have developed a keen ability for managing client based multi-discipline projects that are heavily digital and audience journey based in nature.
This individual must be able to identify opportunities to grow the account and client’s business, as well as identify and grow talent within the account and agency. They are a leader in guiding and influencing both external and internal stakeholders. They understand and promote an integrated approach to brand advertising, audience engagement and industry innovation.
Responsibilities:
• Understanding the essential dynamics, strategies and drivers of the client’s business
• Being a liaison to multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure integration across the business
• Shaping and driving direction and activity on a given piece of business; recognizes and advances big ideas
• Monitoring, projecting and providing innovative solutions to marketing issues
• Demonstrating accountability for agency performance
• Using agency resources creatively to support client’s business
• Foreseeing and identifying opportunities and formulates plans to manage and exploit them to drive/extend the business
• Understanding and navigating the agency matrix and client matrix
• Ensuring overall quality of work on the business
• Managing client expectations, objectives, and timelines
• Recognizing and identifying solutions to resolve conflict situations (internally and externally)
• Building and maintaining successful senior-level relationships at the client and within the agency
• Acting as a resource to team members in assessing ideas and direction
• Facilitating their own and other’s ideas from development to presentation to execution
• Leading a global management system to ensure agency geo teams globally are aligned with the global business agenda and work
• Guiding internal/partner teams to deliver integrated solutions from strategy and concept, through to execution, while adequately representing client interests
• Growing, inspiring and developing a career plan for director reports and junior staff
Qualifications:
• 8-10+ years of integrated account management experience required with familiarity in all aspects of brand advertising and engagement marketing including: data analytics, communication planning, digital, social and the digital media landscape
• Demonstrated solid senior-level client experience and ability to navigate complex client organizations required
• Proven track record of leading major accounts and exceptional client service skills
• Experience large well-known entities is a plus
• Needs to be comfortable with ambiguity at times (both with clients and internally), be able to demonstrate flexibility and creative problem solving
• Needs to be a team player, friendly, easy to work with. They need to be able to handle many different personalities both internally and externally
• Needs to have had experience in communications planning, and ability to articulate examples of strategic recommendations they’ve provided, or sold in to clients
• Must be results oriented – able to drive the process forward and quickly problem solve within the agency and clients to deliver campaigns against strategy to drive the best results
• Led and helped develop value-add practices and processes to share with clients
• Proven ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
• Ability to work effectively and proactively within a team setting goals and clear roles and responsibilities
• Strong management skills to help identify and grow junior talent
• Demonstrated ability in successfully managing agency retainers and revenue forecasting
