The VP will be responsible for managing and growing the market research practice for a client-focused book of business and will provide leadership and direction to affect a vibrant and effective market research capability that provides competitive advantage for GfK The VP will be especially adept at qualitative and quantitative research, as well as interpreting, integrating, and reporting multiple information streams and multivariate analytics. The emphasis of this position is business development as well as execution and completion of projects. This position also gives project direction to other staff in support of the design, execution and reporting of research projects. Experience in any of Financial Service, Media, Telecom or CPG are especially welcome.
Responsibilities:
• Help the organization maintain and expand a book of business with existing clients, secure new clients and maintain high levels of client satisfaction. Should help to identify sales opportunities, qualify leads, make sales calls and solicit RFPs from clients, write proposals, and close the business.
• Plan, execute and deliver custom qualitative and quantitative projects to clients. Own and manage projects under the direction of senior staff as required.
• Ability to direct efforts of more junior staff and others as appropriate to design, execute and deliver quality research for clients. Support and contribute to the development of research skills of staff
• Contribute to the development of the business, including supporting sales activities, revenue and profit goals and monitoring activities against plans. Demonstrate expert knowledge of the GfK product portfolio
• Contribute to enhancing the image and reputation of GfK by helping to prepare industry programs, including speeches to be given at industry meetings.
• Design, report and present research utilizing a broad range of research approaches and analytic techniques in a creative manner; Design research instruments to meet client objectives
• Work collaboratively with department leadership and sales to develop and implement client business plans, grow business by maintaining and enhancing current portfolio and identifying and developing unique project and value-added services, Ability to independently represent GfK with select clients
• Independently or together with sales, author proposals to support and build business as well as stay abreast of key client business issues and market events
Requirements
Experience and Skills:
• Minimum 15 years of relevant working experience in the market research industry, marketing, or strategic planning
• Some combination of client- and vendor-side experience is preferred, along with some management experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required along with experience with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to tell a compelling story focused on answering key business questions
• Ability to work with the broader GfK organization to bring more complete solutions to clients and not just responses to questions.
• Ability to listen and appropriately provide insight and persuade clients to one's point of view
• Demonstrated ability to lead results presentation to senior management
• Ability to identify new business opportunities including cross selling
Education: Bachelor's degree is required. Advanced degree is preferred.
