Summary:
A minimum of 12 years experience preferred; The Managing Director, Global Client Leadership, BlackRock is primarily responsible for managing all senior client relationships on a major account. They also oversee the profitability of the account and ensure the integration and process flow throughout Strategic Planning, Investment, and Analytics functions. The Managing Director leads the global media network servicing the client, and is responsible for consistency of product and output delivered around the world. They will drive an agenda of global best practices sharing, innovation, and strategic thinking, via a clearly defined global operating model, framework of thinking, and toolkit. They, in partnership with the global media client(s), will set this agenda and optimize it regularly based on business dynamics. Given the digital centricity of the account, the Managing Director should have a strong background in digital media strategy and trading.
This position is also accountable for continuing the evolution of adaptive marketing with the client, leaning into the principles and capabilities available at Mindshare. This means spearheading use of the Loop, incorporating Planning for Agility into regular planning cycle, and continuing growth in data and analytics services. As global lead, it will be the responsibility of the Managing Director to ensure adaptive marketing and use of our related products spreads beyond just the US. The Managing Director will play a key role in identifying new business or growth opportunities with the client. Additionally, it will be the role of the Managing Director to approve the key strategic elements of high-priority media plans (both US and Global), to deliver against business results and ensure client satisfaction.
The Managing Director, Global Client Leadership will also work closely with planning and investment counterparts to extract more value (both hard savings and other benefits) from the marketplace for clients. From a strategic standpoint, key responsibilities will be to guide teams in media strategy; support/drive development of key strategic media partnerships and negotiations; drive key digital marketing and media agenda items including social, search, retargeting & audience buying, content marketing, and mobile/ IoT; provide strategic marketplace, industry, and category intelligence regularly; build/maintain productive relationships with marketing community leaders at client and key media partners globally. They should have experience leading global businesses and be comfortable working across cultures and time zones. Foreign language skills not required, but the Managing Director should be a very strong English language communicator both written and oral to ensure comprehension of clear global direction across the network. The Managing Director will also mentor mid-level supervisory staff.
Responsibilities:
• Directly responsible for an extensive understanding of the Brand and Asset Management/ Financial Services Category dynamics, players, and their short-and-near horizon challenges - - to the standard of commanding respect as a lead business partner
• Sets annual strategic global operating model and roadmap, leads global QBRs that map progress against that OM/ roadmap
• Designs/ negotiates annual scope of work and sets the staffing plan based on job requirements, past performance and future contingencies
• Manages account financials and profitability globally, including strategic oversight of key trading commitments and efforts around global media visibility
• Monitors, evaluates, recruits and recommends senior media personnel on the assignment
• Develops and maintains senior client relationships
• Establishes overall strategic media approach on business and the implementation process to be employed, considering nuances and limitations of global markets engaged on the client business
• Directly responsible for overall media planning product
• Attends, presents and provides counsel at all significant agency-client media meetings
• Provides leadership when necessary in developing, negotiating and implementing creative media solutions
• Confer with outside creative advertising agencies and marketing teams to establish media goals, objectives and strategies
• Supervises a team consisting of Business Science, Strategic Planning, and Investment
• Continue to drive consistent process and approach to marketplace dealings and cascade to teams
• Participating in regular Mindshare and GroupM client leadership meetings.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Director
• Broad background , exposure to and experience in the entire research, planning and implementation process
• Strong problem solving skills, authority in cross-agency cross-cultural situations
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Detail oriented with exceptional critical thinking and problem solving abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Ability to multi-task, work successfully with teams, and work under pressure
• Excellent Time management skills
• Familiarity with all media and with general Mindshare approaches in Business Science, Strategic Planning, and Investment
• Significant experience at all levels of agency-client relationships
• Knowledgeable about key personnel and leadership of all Mindshare disciplines and practices
• Knowledgeable about key client personnel, issues, processes, goals and requirement
