Overview:
Vice President, Strategic and Creative Planning
Ketchum's Chicago office is looking for a Vice President to join it's Creative, Insights & Strategic Planning team. This person will be intstrumental in providing creative, insights and strategic planning counsel to designated account teams. The ideal candidate will work closely with account team leaders/client directors and specialists throughout the office to help evolve program concepts from “idea” to “execution.
Responsibilities:
Business Competencies and Skills
• Serve as leader on the Creative, Insights & Strategic Planning team, and will be deployed to priority new business and current client projects
• Proactively communicate with key account team leads to assess creative status of client work, and troubleshoot when needed, consistently keeping “break through” standards in mind
• Act as liaison between account teams and research department; develop and refine new procedures for insight development and drive strategic creative programming for clients
• Actively communicate with other Ketchum RISC leads across the global network to glean appropriate techniques to adopt within Chicago office, and share Chicago pioneered techniques to be adopted by other offices
• Conceptualize, develop, execute and evangelize new tools and procedures amongst mid-level and senior staff
• Creatively lead new business pitches in partnership with account teams
• Collaborate with other team members to create/develop stream of ideas for key clients
• Lead client-based and internal creative workshops (specifically brainstorm facilitation training)
• Designs and develops ideation techniques/workshops (specifically, storytelling training)
• Works with account teams to develop creative briefs for ideation sessions
• Leads brainstorm sessions for new business proposals/current client opportunities
• Develops/vets ideas generated in brainstorm sessions
• Participates in value-added ideation sessions for key clients
• Actively maintains the creative atmosphere within office, including local activities, trainings, tools, etc.
• Mentors staff in the office and network as appropriate, to drive expertise in RISC capabilities across teams
• Works to keep active within influential creative community outside of Ketchum, serving as ambassador for Ketchum RISC community and bringing new learning back to office; attend conferences as needed
Client Competencies and Skills
• Demonstrate expertise and understanding of clients’ marketplace and business.
• Develop strong relationships with senior clients and become a trusted advisor.
• Design and implement strategic programs and solutions, identifying and alerting teams and clients to trends.
• Use metrics and analytics to build business, provide insight and counsel to clients.
• Consistently write and edit materials including client media materials, byline articles, client correspondence, blogs, social media content and reports.
• Be familiar with global agency resources and capabilities and drive utilization of resources.
• Assure creative ideas result from a collaborative team effort.
• Propose proactive, creative ideas to clients. Actively participate in and organize brainstorms, effectively utilize creative resources, inspire and motivate team members.

• Attract and recruit top talent to the agency and effectively manage their introduction to the agency culture and practices.
Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance would qualify. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing or a related field. Master’s degree in a communications field desirable.
• At least 9+ years of experience of agency and/or corporate public relations experience.
• Proven track record of building new business.
• Direct experience in building and managing teams.
