Job Duties: Analyze engineering problems with web services to implement and improve computer systems. Analyze functional and non-functional user requirements, procedures, and technical problems to drive successful development, improve existing systems and review computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations. Consult with Company’s IT department and with business stakeholders to drive successful development, rollout and adoption of transactional web services to accelerate Company’s ability to do new business and offer services in the cloud. Develop a deep understanding of Company's business and technical challenges in transacting business, including the underlying system architecture and the complexities of existing and new Company business models. Recommend new and innovative ideas to drive productivity and efficiency both inside the company and with our partners. Provide technical support in the definition, of functional and non-functional requirements to ensure that web services are developed to be flexible, extensible and easily adopted by consumers, while also being highly-reliable and secure. Consult with technical staff within external reseller partner companies, providing integration consultation and assisting in testing and troubleshooting. Support contractor GEO integration consultants to ensure the team members are consistent in their communications across Company Partner network. Support the development of prototype applications or sample code or documentation to facilitate global adoption of web services. Leverage commercial services platform to host content that will support services and forum moderation to ensure accurate and detailed information is provided to Company partner community. Support the roll out of Company's global network of partner resellers as new web services are completed.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Sciences or related technical field, plus 6 years of experience in the job offered or in a computer software-related occupation.
Special Requirements: Education or experience must include:
1) Supporting the rollout of cross-functional web services projects, consulting and supporting the rollout of new service technologies, communicating effectively, and supporting the rollout of major technical initiatives;
2) Understanding of horizontally scalable, secure, fast and highly available SOAP/RESTful web services to automate business processes and integrate with back office financial or CRM systems;
3) Large scale enterprise application integration, including direct B2B automation of mission critical transactions;
4) Implementing architectural standards and frameworks, allowing for a flexible and scalable environment;
5) Providing best practices around application design, modeling, scalability and performance;
6) Support for developer communities with content to empower communities to be successful and self- sufficient;
7) Java application development and database technologies including SQL and NoSQL;
8) SOA and multi-tier web applications;
9) Web services platform management tools such as Apigee;
10) Delivery experience within a Scrum/agile project lifecycle approach to software development;
11) Managing development teams including code reviews; and
12) Cross-functional communication, leadership and presentation skills.
Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States. May telecommute.
