Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and creative media expert to lead our west coast media team. The ideal candidate will be equal parts media innovator, client relationship master, and inspiring team lead of media planners, SEM and Ad Operations specialists. S/he will have a strong track record for creating senior level client relationships as well as bringing in new business. The VP of Media must be a strong collaborator in a highly matrixed organization This position reports to the SVP, North America Media and dotted lines into the west region’s Managing Director and sits on the both the West and National Media leaderships teams.
Responsibilities:
Grow our Business
• Drive alignment with overall digital strategy; produce on-going recommendations, drive thought leadership, media best practices and strategies to maximize integrated marketing campaigns results
• Develop and implement innovative media strategies to improve the effectiveness of clients' marketing programs
• Identify business development opportunities. Partner with BD, participate and lead pitches as necessary
• Develop deep relationships with all senior level clients across west media portfolio
• Establish and maintain senior level relationships with publishers and partner organizations
• Represent the Media teams interests in resourcing, career path, knowledge sharing, etc.
• Own development and production of agency POV's and trend reports
• Advise clients and agency's client service organization on media opportunities.
• Conceive, negotiate and present media proposals to clients.
• Apply media expertise to any business development or non-media engagement to help win/grow overall business
• Provide media expertise and point of view on Experience or Creative work
• Trouble-shoot and resolve problems on behalf of clients.
• Represent the agency within industry organizations
• Actively engage in public relations within the media field by writing articles, participating in interviews, speaking engagements, panels, and seminars

• Strong coaching/mentorship/skills development and the ability to motivate a cross-discipline, geographically dispersed team
• Collaborates easily with direct reports, other peers and senior leadership
• Manage and guide the media staff in the continuous evaluation of and improvement upon media opportunities for our clients
• Monitor and evaluate the overall department structure to ensure we are positioned to meet deliverables for existing clients, accommodate new business opportunities, and adjust to changing industry needs/trends
Qualifications:
• Experience in managing traditional and interactive media programs, brand and direct response campaigns
• Proven experience leading a large digital media team and managing innovative campaigns for blue chip clients
• Minimum of 15 years of advertising and marketing industry experience; 7 years of digital experience at an interactive or marketing agency
• Familiarity and relationships within online media landscape, including those in search, portals, web publishers, programmatic, and emerging publisher and vendor technologies
• Outstanding track record of management capabilities and organizational leadership in a client-service, team-driven environment
• Superior interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Skilled negotiator
• Strong business strategy and analytic skills
• Track record of successful problem-solving skills
• BA/BS required; MBA or relevant Master's Degree a plus
