Oracle Arena & Oakland/Alameda County Coliseum are Company Facilities-managed venues and Northern California's premiere sports and entertainment venues home to the Oakland Athletics (MLB), Oakland Raiders (NFL) and Golden State Warriors (NBA). Additionally, we host the top entertainers, family shows and special events at our venues.
The Vice President, Booking will serve as the principal contact with all of Company's North American Facilities booking and content development teams while also acting as the main booking contact for Oracle Arena. Responsible for sourcing, pitching, negotiating and securing live event content, including talent buying for co-promotional or venue-promoted events.
Responsibilities:
Company FACILITIES EVENT BOOKING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:
• Serves as the principal contact with all of Company's North American Facilities booking and content development teams while also acting as the main booking contact for Oracle Arena.
• Acts as liaison between agencies and promoters on the one hand and Company Facilities on the other.
• Works to aggressively promote the use of the facilities to maximize utilization and negotiates content agreements.
• Interfaces with promoters, talent booking and marketing teams for all Company Facilities venues to coordinate booking schedules, artist relationships, and ticket sales planning and event settlements.
• Provides input on branding and marketing efforts, including sales collateral and show related marketing
• Participates in the determination of event specific event staffing requirements
• Develops and pursues new events for venues, including but not limited to new touring events and types not currently hosted at the arena. An emphasis is placed on creating new, unique events for the arena, including local, regional, national, and international sporting events, concerts, comedy, family entertainment and special events
• Hosts regular meetings and conference calls with venue bookers to ensure optimal performance and results and ensures companywide strategies are adhered to.
ORACLE ARENA BOOKING:
• Responsible for sourcing, pitching, negotiating and securing live event content, including talent buying for co-promotional or venue-promoted events.
• Build relationships with local established and alternative promoters.
• Oversees development of the venue's annual event calendars, activity schedules, dates and hours of event operations, projections for attendance and revenue
• Implements and monitors a detailed program budget; supervises cost accounting required of events to include facility rental, ancillary revenue streams, and event related expenses upon advisement of the GM.
• Assists with the preparation and maintenance of any required and necessary reports/records for the client and/or Company Facilities.
• Manages the venue license agreement process to execution for each show including promoter specific language, deal, insurance requirements and other negotiated deal points.
ADMINISTRATION:
• Assists with the development, coordination, implementation and administration of specific plans, programs and policies as deemed necessary and/or prescribed by company directives.
• Provides or coordinates timely and effective response to directives and requests received from internal and external organizations, agencies, departments and individuals; assures and maintains integrity of the arena, client, division and the corporation in all forms of communication and personal contacts
Qualifications:
• A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year) (Advanced Degree Preferred)
• A minimum of 10+ years of related work experience in booking/event creation or successful promotion experience or equivalent
• Must have experience working with sports, entertainment and corporate organizations to attract and develop events at an arena or comparable facility
• Must have proven history of leadership abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word); and ability to learn all required business systems
• Solid experience leading, mentoring and coaching productive teams
• Must have proven track record of developing and managing budgets
• Must have proven history of negotiating complex and diverse content agreements.
• Must have working knowledge of tour routing policies and practices
• Must have event sales & marketing experience
• Must be a self-starter and have ability to work under minimal supervision
• Working knowledge of all aspects of the operation of a major NHL and NBA arenas, and/or NFL stadiums strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of event and box office operations strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of food and beverage operations and revenue streams strongly preferred
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business hour, as needed
• Perform additional duties at the venue and/or for Company Facilities as required by the GM and senior management.
