Directly assist Manager - BTV Engineering in all technical matters involving the support of HDTV broadcast systems, the store satellite VSAT network, and related video distribution mechanisms. Maintain proficiency on all HDTV systems in order to fulfill the primary back-up role for the Manager -BTV Engineering.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Programming and monitoring of on-air transmission systems and store satellite VSAT network.
Monitoring and support of all core HDTV broadcast systems to include: Video switching & routing systems, Edit systems, Video server & play-out systems, Audio console & Dante systems, Encoding systems, Automation system, and related systems critical to the operation of a modern broadcast facility.
Perform electronic repairs and maintain current software revisions on HDTV systems. Build and run cables as required while maintaining plant CADD documentation.
Provide operational technical assistance to all staff/contract HDTV personnel.
Provide operational Studio/Control room support for HDTV Production sessions.
Assist in planning and installation of new HDTV broadcast systems and/or modifications and upgrades to existing systems.
NATURE AND SCOPE
Position reports to Mgr BTV Engineering No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the technical leadership of a project work team: may select team members and assess capabilities, provide technical training, provide information necessary to meet work, project or program objectives, evaluate program or project performance.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION REQUIRED
The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a trade school degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE -5
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Infrequent periods will be in same location. Ability to move about quickly and often.
Ability to lift at least 50lbs, occasionally work on a stepladder, and be able to pull cables in computer flooring.
Company SOP requirements.
5+ years experience in a video broadcast and/or production technical support role. “LIVE” broadcasting experience is preferred.
Associates degree or equivalent technical school training in the broadcast field.
Strong computer skills on OSX, Windows, & Windows Server.
Strong interpersonal & communication skills.
Ability to calmly prioritize actions and responses amidst competing demands and on-going broadcast schedules.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND COMPETENCIES
Strong computer skills on both the PC and Apple platforms.
Ability to think clearly and perform calmly under pressure.
Ability to patiently assist and train people on complex broadcast systems.
Ability to take on new challenges and gain knowledge without direct management oversight.
Understanding and acceptance of the customer service culture of THD.
