Job Summary:
Responsible for the acting as lead in the operation of a multi-zone,
multi headend, ad sales technical field operation with respect to
maintenance, encoding, installation and on-air quality. Coordinates
assignments for assigned location or staff as directed. Interfaces with
personnel of all levels across other departments and interfaces with
third party vendors, as necessary. Has developed specialized
knowledge/skills in own area. May act as a resource for colleagues with
less experience.
Core Responsibilities:
• Maintains all headends and troubleshoots network issues and hardware
failures pertaining to Ad Sales equipment; assists third party
affiliates and ""Company Owned and Operated"" through all methods of
delivery analog and IP video systems.
• Assists local staff and remote locations with maintenance and
preventative maintenance of Ad Sales equipment. Repairs and diagnoses
servers, hardware, and software with operating systems (including
Linux/Unix, Windows, etc.) and ensures they comply with security
standards, patches, etc.
• Configures and installs hardware and software necessary to
encode/transcode mpeg content and maintains associated hardware and
software to ensure they are within ATSC and FCC guidelines.
• Conducts analysis on market systems and interfaces with Sales &
Traffic departments on technical issues (i.e. audio and video problems,
servers, modems, etc.) Applies systems analysis techniques and
procedures to determine system functional specifications, and design,
develop, test, or modify computer systems or programs based on user or
design specifications.
• Installs and configures Starnet Insertion equipment (including
Satellite dish installation, alignment and receiving equipment.)
• Interfaces with outside vendors for installation and/or configuration
of satellite delivered paid programming. Interfaces with software
vendors per local agreements.
• Evaluates system performance through status monitoring (via modem or
visual inspection.) Utilizes test equipment such as mpeg analyzers and
video and audio test sets to ensure content is within ATSC, SCTE, Cable
labs, and FCC standards.
• Interfaces with local headend engineers and provides support, as
necessary.
• Works with Technical Operations Supervisor and/or Manager, as
required, to ensure issues are resolved in a timely and appropriate
manner.
• May schedule maintenance work and ensure completion by assigned
Technicians, as necessary.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters
of significance.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work
nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
Job Specification:
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent
• Generally requires 5-7 years related experience
