Under the supervision of the Academic Pathway Dean, the Student Success Liaison supports the Pathway Office to welcome and assist new and current students to and in the Pathway. Triages students' needs to direct student to appropriate Pathway or College support personnel and/or services; assists faculty, staff and general public on general Pathway and/or Pathway Program questions. Work is cross-functional, interpersonal, and diverse in nature. Supervision received is general in nature using established procedures and general objectives.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Creates and maintains a welcoming, inviting, and student-centered Pathway Office environment by displaying a positive and friendly attitude while providing excellent service and individualized care to each student.
Responds to incoming questions and inquiries in person, on the telephone, and via email, providing information that requires knowledge and understanding of general Student Services and Academic processes and procedures; exercises discretion in determining information to be released.
Effectively explain and provide Pathway-specific assistance in the enrollment process including admissions, financial aid, counseling, advising, orientation, and registration.
Identifies and refers students to support services available at Company and community- based organizations; offers solutions to current students that promotes student retention.
Contacts departments/offices across the College to research answers for student questions; avoids transferring calls or sending students to other offices.
Collaborate with Pathway team to ensure delivery of accurate information regarding all College services.
As a member of the Pathway team, gathers and/or provides information, maintains records, and interprets data requiring reference to a variety of sources; prepares and maintains complex statistical reports including designing formats for tables, charts and graphs; conducts needed special studies to report recommendations.
Works as an effective cross-functional team member.
Assists with Pathway and Pathway Program Student Orientations and other such programming.
Ensure delivery of excellent customer service, including face-to-face, telephone, electronic, and print transactions. Provides job training and assistance to colleagues and subordinates as needed and appropriate.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Associate degree in Business, Communication or related field required.
Two (2) years of experience in customer service and/or call center; or any combination of experience and training that would provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Experience in a higher-education setting.

Ability to utilize excellent customer service and interpersonal, phone, and written communication skills in order to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Company staff, faculty, students, representatives from outside agencies, business community and the general public.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the students, Pathway Team members, other College employees.
Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently, and as a team member.
Requires knowledge of District policies and procedures; ability to interpret and communicate admissions, financial aid, registration processes and COSMO software application.
Knowledge and proficiency in the use of personal computers, spreadsheets, database documents, electronic mail, and other established software to perform functions such as creating documents and spreadsheets, correcting and proofing, storing and filing text, recalling and retrieving text, printing; and using special features as communications; merging, reformatting, major editing, and revisions.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to problem solve by questioning, organizing, researching, analyzing, processing and interpreting complex information.
