The AWS Professional Services Modernization Solutions Team enables the world’s largest organizations with innovative capabilities delivered by our AWS Professional Services Consultants and partners, enabling our customers to transform their business while accelerating their journey to the cloud. As the Sr. Practice Manager for Modernization, you will lead a team that develops customer solutions, service offerings, communities of practice, and prescriptive guidance to accelerate customer value through modern application development platforms, patterns, and practices. Reporting to this role will be a team that identifies barriers to enterprise adoption and develops repeatable strategies and mechanisms to overcome these barriers. This position also includes influencing critical stakeholders across AWS and the AWS Partner Network to provide aligned and consistent successful customer outcomes. This position will directly lead a team of technical Solution Builders and will indirectly lead a community of thousands of consultants and partners.
Your responsibilities will include leading a team and rolling up your sleeves to assemble cross-functional engagement teams, and driving business and technical relationships with enterprise customers through our partners and worldwide professional services teams. You will use your lean product development skills and experience to create MVPs and execute experiments that validate your evolving hypotheses about what customers need. Your team is the innovation engine for our AWS service teams, filling the gaps in our current offerings and using our global Professional Services engagements to execute your experiments and gain rapid feedback from real customers. The ideal candidate will possess a business background that enables them to drive engagement and interact at the highest levels of large enterprises, as well as having the technical depth to easily communicate to IT architects, application analysts, and enterprise security and compliance teams. The ideal candidate will also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and long-term about the needs of global businesses, and be deeply familiar with complex, legacy IT environments including applications, databases, middleware, storage, networks, information security, and operations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Serve as the leader of a solution builder team focused on accelerating platforms, patterns, and practices to enable our customers to modernize their applications to take full advantage of the AWS platform. E.g. Enabling containerization, refactoring monolithic architectures to microservices and serverless, or decomposing databases to modern data architectures.
Define and size enterprise market segments, identify key enterprise customers, and identify vertical industry partners including ISVs and system integrators.
Identify and develop enterprise-focused use cases, and associated capability (reference implementations, architectures, white papers, prescriptive guidance, marketing materials, etc.). This would include developing solution kits, enablement content, technical quick starts, work-around capabilities and longer term technical and solution collateral materials that effectively communicate and enable the delivery of customer modernization programs.
Deliver initiatives for modernization including assessment, tools, models, and repeatable patterns.
Must have 10+ years of enterprise business and enterprise solution experience.
The right person will be capable of understanding the complexities of large enterprise IT environments, will bring technical and business perspective, and will have demonstrated proficiency as a leader in complex technology organizations.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in latest technologies such as containers, serverless, and micro services architectures.
Extensive leadership experience working in the enterprise IT industry is required, either as a vendor or as an enterprise customer.
Technical knowledge of enterprise IT is required, including: database systems, tiered storage architectures, server and desktop virtualization, data center operations, network security, etc. with ability to go deep enough on technical aspects to understand current and future customer needs and present AWS technical benefits.
Deep knowledge and experience in modern application development techniques, methodologies, organizational models, and tooling.
Must have a demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations, including strategic partners and ISVs.
