The Corporate Legal Immigration Department provides legal advice to all business units regarding immigration matters, prepares immigration cases, and supervises cases assigned to outside counsel. The Senior Paralegal is responsible for detailed client communication, case analysis, and case preparation (completing government forms, drafting briefs, assembling exhibits, etc.).
Apply U.S. immigration law to evaluate work-visa cases
Review documents and information submitted by clients for relevance, accuracy, and completeness
Communicate with team members and clients during all phases of the immigration process (e.g., to request additional information, explain potential issues and solutions, provide status updates, and answer procedural questions)
Enter data in case-management system; analyze wage data provided by Compensation to ensure compliance with U.S. Department of Labor and USCIS regulations
Draft visa petitions (government forms and persuasive briefs) and related legal documents for review by attorney
Draft correspondence to clients and government agencies
Demonstrated knowledge of employment-based U.S. immigration law, and extensive experience drafting employment-based immigration petitions, persuasive briefs and explanatory correspondence
Ability to work independently with limited supervision, but also effectively with multiple team members
Ability to perform calmly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Ability to interact with broad range of clients (e.g., computer professional, vice president, motion picture actor)
Experience working in a corporate environment
BA/BS degree and/or paralegal certificate
