Provide nutrition science guidance and support regarding the safety, nutritional suitability, efficacy, and equivalence of new ingredients and formulas, to facilitate development and implementation of nutrition innovation projects for infants and children.
Provide scientific leadership and technical input on claims development, substantiation and review, and on nutrition positions and policies. Develop and implement principles to determine impact of ingredient equivalence assessments on messaging.
Monitor and evaluate nutrition science landscape, ingredient, technology and intellectual property opportunities.
Determine science-based nutrition profiles for new and improved products.
Effectively collaborate cross-functionally.
Identify, lead and/or contribute to nutrition research that addresses business needs.
Effectively communicate across technical and non-technical audiences internally & externally.
Network broadly & collaborate with internal & external technical community to assure access to current and innovative technologies and scientific advances, and to maintain credibility with the external scientific and regulatory communities.
Ph.D. in nutrition or related discipline with excellent general knowledge of nutrition and 2+ years of relevant experience preferred. Additional relevant experience may be considered in place of educational requirements.
Experience in pediatric nutrition preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to develop effective working relationships and networks with culturally and technically diverse groups.
Ability to evaluate & translate complex technical information to identify opportunities for new/reformulated products, and/or more compelling messaging for existing products.
Ability to function as a nutrition science representative in cross-functional teams, prioritize responsibilities, and deliver a full range of results under tight time constraints.
Capable of identifying and driving the application of nutrition science to generate positive business results.
Excellent writing, reporting and presenting skills.
Ability to effectively communicate science/technological concepts to technical and non-technical audiences at multiple levels through a variety of formats to enable sound business decisions.
Strong competency with Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point).
Willingness to travel, including internationally.
