Job Description:
Fossil is looking for a Product Development Intern for Spring 2015 (January 12 – April 24) to be a part of Company Product Development Team. We are seeking entry level candidates who work well in a team environment and have a passion for product development. Day to day responsibilities will include preparing documents for meetings, analyzing and negotiating costs, production work, organizing samples, and the opportunity to submit concepts for new development.
The intern may also:
1. Attend department line reviews and weekly meetings, organize correlating documents
2. Assist in creation of working cost sheets and cost breakdown information
3. Learn how to communicate options for design and merchants in order to meet deadline and margin needs
4. Help track samples and assist with photo samples and salesman samples
5. Learn different requirements for samples dependent on the buying cycle stage
6. Prepare samples for handoff for photo shoots.
7. Help provide information on product details used in brand communication and wholesale tools
8. Attend meetings (actual, phone and video) with internal partners, Asia teams and vendors in order to develop an understanding of lead times, global calendars, and international teams
9. Help communicate with overseas vendors regarding the development of product
10. Help create and manage Bill of Materials (BOM)
11. Understand the need for accuracy of style set-up attributes in SAP and PLM
All intern positions are at Fossil’s headquarters based in Richardson, Texas. Applicants need to be willing to relocate during the course of the internship and provide their own transportation and accommodations to complete a 40 hour work week. This is a paid internship.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Student currently enrolled in an accredited university studying Product Development (preferred), Fashion Merchandising or Business
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Computer software skills: Microsoft Office, InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop preferred
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English
• Refined communication and presentation skills
• Desire to work in a fast paced environment while handling multiple projects
• Sense and appreciation for fashion
