Job Introduction
We are looking for a Social Media Assistant who will be responsible for sourcing and editing relevant image and video content from the Natural History Unit’s production teams, arguably the best wildlife content in the world.
Role Responsibility
• You will be the main point of contact for production teams and various independent companies, in running day-to-day social activity. A friendly face, you will approach teams if they don’t approach you first and ensure we can make their programmes shine online
• Scheduling social media campaigns (with support from senior social producer), you will take the lead on how, where and when we use social media for our big brands and programmes
• Writing and proof reading social posts that are appropriate to the tone of Company Earth and Company editorial policy.
• Working hand in hand with teams in Bristol and the wider Company Earth team in London
• Sourcing images and footage for clips and GIFs, which will promote and support programming on social channels
• Drafting and scheduling content on the official Company Earth Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts
• Creating and editing bespoke video content for social media
• Assisting with weekly and monthly reporting of the performance of digital media across a variety of social platforms.
The Ideal Candidate
• A passion for social media and a knowledge of how to engage people on social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter)
• Some experience in producing / scheduling social content for Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, including the ability to edit clips.
• Creative thinker, able to come up with video concepts and campaigns.
• Strong organisation skills - being able to multi-task and co-ordinate with a number of stakeholders at one time on given tasks.
• Strong communication skills – you will need to reassure, engage and enthuse people who are not familiar with Facebook.
• An eye for detail – particularly with spelling and grammar
• Desire to build up strong online communities through engaging and high impact social content.
• Ability to identify key trends on social platforms and trending editorial topics as they emerge.
• An interest in Natural History and nature is desirable. The ability to identify a red-necked phalarope at 100 paces, is not essential.
