Company, Inc. seeks a Senior Paint Chemist in Brazil, Indiana to develop new chemical coating technologies and making modifications to existing technologies for PPG’s OEM customers in the U.S. automotive market. Specific duties include: (i) developing and implementing new paint technology and manufacturing processes; (ii) providing technical support in the manufacturing, quality control, and research and development of new automotive coatings; (iii) analyzing and resolving technical issues and advising on the procurement of raw chemical materials in alignment with specific OEM customer requirements; (iv) coordinating with the Engineering Department to facilitate the development of new coatings and providing technical support to the Sales Department with respect to existing applications of automotive coatings; and (v) training junior lab technicians in OEM customer-specific paint chemical formulas as well as providing chemical engineering expertise with respect to quality control issues for existing automotive coatings.
Must have a bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Chemical Engineering or Industrial Engineering and five (5) years of post-baccalaureate and progressively responsible experience as a Chemical Engineer, Chemist, or in a directly related position.
Must have five (5) years of experience: (i) developing coatings for plastic parts used in the automotive industry (including 1 and 2 component urethane coatings); (ii) working with Japanese business culture; (iii) working in an automotive manufacturing facility; and (iv) testing, spraying panels, and OEM specification chemical testing.
Must be fluent in Japanese.
Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally to client sites 30% of the time.
