As Senior Manager of Partner Acquisition Business Development & Strategy, you will be responsible for driving business development activities that will continue to grow our merchant coverage and activation with our third-party acquiring partnerships. This is an exciting time to be in USSM – you will have the opportunity to partner with leading payment providers such as PayPal, Elavon, Flywire who are shaping the future of commerce while working with colleagues across the enterprise to drive Company welcomed acceptance in the U.S. This role is for an ambitious self-starter who is comfortable working within ambiguous parameters in a dynamic organization.
Major Responsibilities Include:
Develop and implement strategies to drive AXP welcomed acceptance through key third party channels, particularly in industries with historically low perceptions of merchant acceptance
Manage the incredibly important and high growth acquiring program that focuses on payment facilitators in key industries such as Residential Rent, Education, Government, Utilities, Charities, Healthcare and Insurance
Work in collaboration with partner managers, our marketing and pricing colleagues to design initiatives that drive merchant welcomed acceptance in these key industries
Stay on top of industries dynamics and changes across the key industries outlined above in order to support partner discussions and key initiatives
Build business case, lead strategy development and implementations to expand AXP acceptance in emerging industries
Build expertise in the emerging payment models and acquiring trends to inform proactive AXP acquisition strategy evolution
Identify and evaluate attractive new partnership opportunities with industry specific payment facilitators and ISVs (independent software vendor)
Develop action plan to extend AXP value added services to third party acquiring partners at scale
Strong strategic mind with a proven track record in building pragmatic strategies to drive business growth, incorporating robust understanding of the external landscape
Results-driven mindset with the ability to work under pressure, navigate through ambiguity, and balance multiple priorities
Ability to provide structure and influence internal cross-functional teams to drive results in a matrix organization
Proven ability to engage and influence external partners in a fast paced, multi partner environment with constant change
Strong knowledge and understanding of acquiring landscapes and market dynamics
Strong financial acumen, commercially minded with high level of analytical skills
Demonstrated innovative problem solving skills and comfort challenging the status quo.
High degree of accountability and integrity
Keen attention to detail
Prior experience in external facing Business Development or management consulting / a strategy role preferred
Acquiring/ processing related prior jobs or experience working in one of the key acquiring industries outlined above, preferred but not required
MBA or similar qualification preferred
Role is NYC based
Employment eligibility to work with Company in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
