The Senior Manager of Human Resources is expected to be a tactical, hands-on, roll up your sleeves and get stuff done, creative thinker who can build consensus and manage multiple, complex projects to drive superior results for Group Nine Media.
The position requires a self-motivated, energetic personality to be able to partner effectively with all levels of employees to gain their respect and trust. Capacity to work in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment is critical and the ability to utilize sound judgment and discretion and maintain confidentiality is mandatory. Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of Human Resources and federal and state laws and exhibit a high degree of confidence, integrity and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work with management and employees to establish and maintain a positive work environment; act as an employee advocate and steward of our developing culture
• Propose and design programs to enable efficient scaling and people development. Examples include mentorship programs; analysis of onboarding/exit interviews; drawing out insights from employee surveys and developing a plan forward; running workshops
• Provide expertise and counsel in areas such as career coaching and development, performance management, data analysis, compensation, rewards and recognition and employee relations
• Advise and be a thought leader for people managers on organizational and people related matters, ranging from strategy development, problem-solving and execution
• Proactively handle compliance issues related to existing and upcoming employment regulations
• Facilitate and lead performance review and merit process for designated client groups
• Facilitate employee goal setting, related monitoring, communication of timelines and associated training
• Work to resolve employee and organizational issues in a proactive and positive manner - document, investigate and resolve any employee incidents and escalates when appropriate
• Create and/or review policies and procedures to develop best practices to meet Company and employee goals
• Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local human resource laws
Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
• 7 + years HR experience
• PHR or SPHR or equivalent certification desired
• Experience at a start-up or digital media company highly desired
• Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business, be flexible, and have a positive attitude
• Team player with flexibility to accommodate different personalities and work styles as well as confidence to manage interactions and expectations at all levels of the organization
• Ability to prioritize as needed while handling multiple time-sensitive projects in a very fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational skills, work ethic, initiative, sense of urgency and attention to detail
• Strong project management, creative problem-solving skills and ability to act independently
• Proven ability to multi-task and successfully problem solve
• Sense of humor
