As a Senior Financial Analyst, Music Royalties, you will be a key member of a newly formed department that supports the growing content business. Do you want to be a part of a company and culture that plans to spend billions of dollars per year on content? Do you want to oversee the Music Rights obligations? In this role, your key responsibilities will be interpreting and analyzing legal and financial source documents to determine music rights obligations in accordance with various performance rights organizations and production service agreements. Additionally, you will calculate, prepare and process music royalties in an effective, efficient and timely manner. Lastly, you will estimate and assist in accruing music royalties obligations.
Responsibilities
• Forecast, track, report and pay Music Rights and Royalties.
• Serve as the main point of contact for royalties within Finance and Accounting.
• Ensure compliance with current deals as related to payments and reporting.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to implement new region deals and to ensure that old deals are scaling appropriately.
• Provide information requests to business partners across the organization including; Business Affairs, Legal and FP&A.
• Review monthly accounting entries including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Analyze the performance of current agreements for potential optimization and cost savings.
• Coordinate the financial modeling of agreements/deals with the FP&A team.
• Actively communicate and prepare management to have a clear understanding of the impact of potential royalty deals.
• Lead as Finance representative with building, developing, testing and implementing Music Rights system.
Qualifications
• BA/BS in accounting, finance, business administration or similar degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Music/Entertainment industry experience required.
• 5+ years of experience within the music licensing industry.
• Experience participating in a financial statement close process.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
• Excellent Excel, Microsoft Office & Google web based program skills.
• Highly motivated, analytical, proactive and self-sufficient.
• Strong interpersonal and cross group collaboration skills, ability to drive simplicity within a matrix environment.
• Ability to plan and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Must be able to work independently and team up with various divisions and departments.
• Passion for the Entertainment and Music Industry.
• CPA a plus.
