Description:
As the leader of the Payments & Trade Technology (P&TT) Transformation Team, leads the definition and implementation of the technology and operations (T&O) strategy across the P&TT portfolio with a specific focus on implementations of blockchain, data analytics and API banking. Develops and oversees the development of a team to provide strategy, oversight and delivery on key components of the Company technology strategy within the enterprise payments portfolio. As the leader, has a strong ability to turn ideas into implementable plans while building strong momentum and education across the P&T and Company community. Brings strong enthusiasm and curiosity to help build a dynamic and transformative team and roadmap.
Works with all members of the Payments & Trade senior leadership team, business and operational partners, industry and vendor partners to solicit input and facilitate ideation as strategies turn into roadmaps for the team and thus achieving the goals of the T&O strategy.
Strategy & Planning:
• Develop and facilitate roadmap for T&O strategy alignment to P&T portfolio with particular focus on:
◦ Blockchain pilot and test of various technologies and platforms for longer-term implementation
◦ Payments ecosystem development
◦ API strategy to support payments ecosystem
◦ Big data practice in alignment of key P&T strategies in supporting enterprise payments initiatives
• Develops pilot to production programs for how key aspects of the T&O strategy will benefit the enterprise payments portfolio
• Partners with industry and internal partners to form views and opinions on strategies and roadmaps for success
Change Leadership and Communication:
• Create effective interfaces and communities with partners, technology leaders, project leaders, business and operational partners
• Provide members of the senior management team with timely updates on all material/strategic issues.
• Develop communication plans and materials to support regular communication, with consistent messaging, to all applicable stakeholders.
• Identify risks associated with the transformation portfolio and facilitate resolution of challenges or development of risk mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support the timely and effective execution of work.
• Connects on a regular basis with business leaders to profile projects underway, in order to obtain their ongoing commitment
• Establish, develop and maintain strong relationships with business partners/ sponsors, internal and external partners
People Management and Development:
• Provide strong leadership and direction to team to achieve a culture of high performance and superior individual, team results.
• Build management/leadership capability on team, coach and mentor managers, and hold managers accountable for their work.
• Facilitate collaboration across P&TT to optimize results, in alignment with the P&TT and the T&O strategy
Project Management:
• Work with members of the SLT and project leaders to develop and manage a coordinated project portfolio for all transformational initiatives across the P&T portfolio
• Ensure integration and alignment of projects with P&T transformation strategy and priorities
• Work with project leaders engaged in internal and client-facing projects to ensure deliverables are met on time, on budget, and in accordance with T&O and Company quality standards and other applicable polices and standards.
• Promote innovative or improved methods to get work done and facilitate the implementation of best practices.
• Prepare regular summary reports for VP and SLT, identifying risks and issues for attention, and developing recommendations.
• Provide overall governance and oversight of all transformation initiatives
Education and/or Experience
• Experience leading large transformational projects
• Has successfully managed multiple projects or large cross-enterprise teams
• Minimum 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in leading and managing major environments
• Exceptional planning and problem solving skills
• Strong communication and relationship management capabilities
Time Allocation (Percent)
• Strategy development and ideation: 40%
• Change leadership and communications: 25%
• People management and development: 25%
• Project management and reporting: 10%
Authorities/Impact
• Approximately 5-10 FTE (to start); contractors as required
• Direct influence on $20 - $50 million+ in “change the bank” projects annually
• Authorities as delegated for technology change initiatives in high transaction, large/complex and matrixed business
