Company has an exciting new opportunity for Senior Associates to join our Washington DC metro area team. These Senior Associates will help develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel and assess clients' satisfaction, demonstrate proficiency with accounting and auditing concepts and apply them to client situations, as well as identify and effectively communicate accounting and auditing matters to Managers and Principals. Additional skills and responsibilities are defined below.
Company Administrative Matters
Draft and send formal audit requests (PBCs) that are clear and relevant to audit objectives, as needed.
Monitor and review PBC list on a weekly to identify outstanding PBCs which may impact the timely completion of audit fieldwork, and communicate these delays to Managers.
Act as the “go-to” persons for all staff to contact with procedural questions, findings, etc.
Identify relevant assertions, risks, and audit objectives and approaches; including the preparation/review of Audit Risk Assessments (ARA), Specific Control Evaluation (SCE), Cycle Memo, Walkthrough Memo, sampling methodologies and approaches,
Verify contents and completeness of sample populations and select sample.
Ensure the completion of all necessary audit procedures and work papers.
Identify key points of contact and schedule/attend relevant meetings with the client and junior staff. Invite upper level management, as necessary, to ensure cycle risks are properly discovered, addressed and understood.
As the designated detailed reviewer, you are responsible for verifying the completion and documentation of detailed work by the preparer by re-performing the work. The detailed review is performed by an individual at least one staffing level above the preparer. At a minimum, the detail review should include:
◦ All work papers contain the proper heading, indexing, and dates. See Engagement Instructions for additional work paper information.
◦ Prescribed procedures have been completed and signed-off as prepared (“green ball”)
◦ All cross-references are checked for completeness and logic
◦ All tick marks are explained, and the explanations are complete and reasonable under the circumstances
◦ All questions or differences raised in the work papers are resolved by a written explanation or a reference to a proposed adjusting journal entry
◦ Conclusions are documented, and are complete and consistent with the evidence documented in the work papers
◦ All pending matters should be summarized and filed with the appropriate work papers to aid the next reviewer. Use professional judgment to determine if the open items are of such significance that they prevent the adequate review of the work papers by the Mid-Level or Engagement Partner Reviewer.
Upon receipt of the work papers after comments have been cleared by the preparer, verify all review points have been satisfactorily cleared, and comments have been deleted.
After the review has been completed, signoff on the work paper as the reviewer (“blue square”).
Identify and communicate control deficiencies and/or material misstatements to upper level management upon discovery.
Draft Notice of Finding and Recommendations, as issued are identified. Submit to upper level management for review and distribution to the client.
At year end, coordinate with other financial reporting teams to ensure JVs, financial statement line items, footnotes, Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) and Required Supplementary Information (RSI) are adequately reviewed and properly reported.
Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel and assess clients' satisfaction
Demonstrate an understanding of accounting and auditing concepts and apply them to client situations
Serve as an on-site client resource and support progress against project milestones to help ensure timely delivery of project deliverables
Serve as a liaison between clients and upper management
Interact with clients to help ensure the information flow from the client to the engagement team is efficient
Identify and effectively communicate accounting and auditing matters to Managers and Principals
Identify performance improvement opportunities
Foster an efficient, innovative, and team-oriented work environment
Supervise and review work performed by other staff and interact with the manager on client and team matters
Develop people through effectively delegating tasks and providing guidance to staff.
Execute the day-to-day activities of the engagement
Utilize technology to share knowledge with team members, develop skills, and continually learn
Regularly brief project activities through written and verbal presentations
Assist in the creation of proposals and other new business development efforts
Travel with company/client as needed
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Accounting, Business, or Finance
At least 3 years of accounting and auditing experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Interim Secret clearance required
