More than 100 million digital readers come to Company every month. The Algorithmic Recommendations team ensures that they find the news most relevant to their lives. We are a cross-functional team of engineering, data science, and analytics. We develop, deploy, test, and analyze algorithms that power recommendations, newsletters, and other product experiences for the world’s most curious and engaged readers. Our goal is to learn from users’ behaviors to improve our recommendations and deepen engagement. As such, we are always testing and optimizing our algorithms. We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to support these tests and develop data-driven insights that enable algorithm development.
What you will do:
Support and report on A/B tests of our algorithms, run on surfaces across the web, apps, and email
Analyze test results to identify engagement patterns that suggest algorithm improvements
Take initiative and ownership of data quality and analytical strategies
Present results in various levels of technical detail, within the Algos team and with our Product and Newsroom partners
Who you are:
3-5 years work experience in an analytics organization
Experience in querying and manipulating datasets
Excellent analytical reasoning
Experience with statistical analyses, e.g. hypothesis testing, power analysis, confidence intervals
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work seamlessly with a cross-functional team
What will set you apart:
Experience building reports in data visualization tools (Data Studio, Chartio, Tableau, etc.)
Experience working with BigQuery
Experience with Python for data analysis
Interested in the workings of machine learning algorithms
