JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences Southeast Agricultural Research and Education Center in Manheim, PA offers a paid summer internship for undergraduates. Approximately 40 hours per week, mid-May thru August. Candidates must have housing and transportation to and from the facility in Lancaster County.
Interns complete specific projects and daily departmental assignments, including but not limited to
· Work closely with professional staff experiencing firsthand day-to-day operation of the Research Center.
· Support research: collect data, work with research teams and shadow graduate researchers in the field.
· Experience best practices for production management and crop trials: assist in planning, planting, cultivating, harvesting, etc. Training to safely operate and perform preventive maintenance on agricultural research equipment.
· Experience all aspects of the research facility, as well as other professional development opportunities, training, and workshops.
