The Sales Tax Analyst is a critical participant in the processing of inter-company transactions, research, and reconciling sales and purchase transactions. This position ensures that all daily/monthly debits and credits are accurately posted and reconciled in the appropriate general ledger. This individual reports internally to the Tax Manager, but will interface with other Company departments, as well as outside vendors, consultants and taxing authorities.
Management of inter-company purchase procedures - Process and manage activities necessary to initiate, complete and reconcile the Company’s purchases and sales. Manage document requirements related to purchases, sales, and vendor relationships for various transactions. Implement and maintain tracking tools for document retention to audit adherence to defined processes. Monitor vendor adherence to contractual terms.
Inter-company Accounting and Reconciliations to General Ledger - Prepare, record, and reconcile journal entries. Perform month-end analytical review of trial balance accounts and prepare monthly account reconciliations. Ensure internal policies and procedures are accurately followed.
Sales Tax Activities - Review purchase/sales transactions and apply applicable state and local tax rules to determine taxability. Assist with month-end sales and use tax compliance for multiple Company entities filing in multiple jurisdictions. Research and resolve invoice discrepancies.
Other Tasks/Projects - Establish reporting processes to segregate transactions by vendor, commodity and business unit. Collaborate with internal personnel and external consultants to collect, analyze and summarize data to evaluate potential enhancements and effectiveness of internal and external processes. Perform routine administrative and other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelors/ 4 Yr Degree, CPA
Experience: 4+ Years, Sales & Use Tax, GL Reconciliation
CPA/ CPA eligible preferred
Ability to multi-task and be highly organized
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Excellent communication and analytical/problem solving skills
Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet navigation and research, Oracle experience preferred.
