Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Crop and Soil Sciences encompasses diverse disciplines in research extension and teaching. The department’s mission is to develop future leaders in crop, soil and environmental sciences, improve crop plants and products, devise effective and sustainable crop production systems, devise effective and sustainable soil management techniques in both agriculture and urban settings; and disseminate crop, soil, and environmental science knowledge for the benefit of users and producers of food, feed, turf, biofuels and fiber in North Carolina, the nation and the world.
Essential Job Duties
The Research Technician will be responsible for Hauling, operating, and maintaining research equipment needed to both plant and harvest research trials in Spring 2020 and beyond. The technician will also be responsible for maintenance of the trials.
These research trials must be executed upon in 2020 in an effort to provide our stakeholders with critical information needed.
The position will be required to drive a program vehicle with an attached trailer or tag-along, 4-wheeler, and 5090R Tractor, Plot Combine.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or a related field.
Soybean research experience in a university setting.
Required License or Certification
Valid NC Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
Valid NC CDL or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
