The research assistant will use existing single-cell RNAseq analysis pipelines to classify cell types in homeostatic and regenerating tissues. He/she/they will prioritize cell types and genes for experimental validation and further study. The applicant will provide support for ongoing research studies, by executing tasks involving primer design, PCR, cloning, RNA prep, cDNA library construction, qPCR, as well as tissue harvesting and processing, immunohistochemistry, RNA in situ hybridization. The candidate will supervise the work of two undergraduate researchers, who will assist with histology and downstream functional analyses in axolotls.
College level coursework in molecular biology, and at least one year of work experience in axolotl data acquisition and analysis, utilizing relevant molecular biology and histology skills.
Basic programming skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a diverse team
This is a grant-funded one-year term position with the possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance and the continued availability of funding.
