Microbiology-Allergen Lab Analyst posting is for off-shift, the hours will consist of a mixture of 2nd and 3rd shift hours. Mon-Fri, with regularly scheduled weekend coverage for both microbiological and Allergen testing. This position resides in the Microbiological Environmental and Allergen Labs, performing analytical testing using established methodologies to support good finished product, in process items, environmental and equipment swabbing. Analyst coordinates testing of materials, processes testing data, and delivers results to the organization in a timely manner in order to meet release and production schedules. Communication to their lab group and the wider organization is vital to ensure business needs are met. Additionally, the analyst performs routine lab equipment maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, etc. as needed.
Job Requirements and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or related field
Laboratory workspace skills and management
Applicant should have experience with aseptic technique, autoclaves, general microbiology including cultural methods, ELISA, PCR, and biochemical assays.
Excellent comprehension of results & communication to outside groups
Weekend coverage, as required by production schedule
Good documentation practices and data comprehension
Strong computer skills (GLIMS, Optiva, SAP, MS Office, or equivalents)
Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
Strong interpersonal skills
ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) testing
Test method development & validation
Quality control within food manufacturing environment
Powder manufacturing and packaging processes
Sampling plan development
