POSITION SUMMARY:
The Center for Health Equity, Education, and Research (CHEER) at Company is a world-class center for maternal child health advocacy, training and research. Its mission is to bring about health equity by collaborating with community-based partners and providing technical assistance, training, evaluation, and inspiration. CHEER focuses on underserved populations, with a particular emphasis on maternal child health and nutrition.
Under the supervision of CHEER’s Associate Director, the Specialist will support the CHAMPS program. CHAMPS is a hospital-based initiative that promotes evidence-based maternity practices, with the ultimate goal of increasing breastfeeding rates and decreasing racial disparities in breastfeeding. The individual will manage the monthly hospital data submissions and database, participate in hospital coaching and assessments, and support the expansion of the Breastfeeding: Human Medicine IPE. Other responsibilities include data management, performing administrative tasks, overseeing student interns participating in tasks related to the Research Assistant’ work, helping to manage project budgets, and participating in grant writing and proposals.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
CHAMPS Research Tasks
- Manage monthly data submissions from CHAMPS hospitals via Qualtrics and Excel
- Communicate with hospitals around data submission and corrections
- Produce data reports for CHAMPS hospitals, funders and stakeholders.
- Participate in hospital coaching, attending coaching meetings and acting at the CHAMPS point of contact for hospitals
- Participate in hospital assessments, interviewing staff and patients
- Conduct literature reviews
- Contribute to reports, presentations and manuscripts for publication
- Support grant proposals as needed
- Present program activities and outcomes at conferences and webinars
- Manage project budgets
- Participate in grant writing and proposals
Administrative Tasks
- Attend CHEER meetings and draft agendas and minutes as needed
- Maintain records, reports and files as required
Other Tasks
- Participate in national and Company-based groups that CHEER is a member of
- Maintain departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards

JOB DESCRIPTION CHARACTERISTICS
EDUCATION:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s in Public Health or Social Science discipline strongly preferred. If pursuing a doctorate in Public Health or relevant Social Science discipline, there may be an opportunity to combine work with requirements for dissertation.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
- None
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of three years of research experience in the public health field preferred, however, an equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above, may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) required
- Ability to work well in a very busy national program with multiple different projects
- Knowledge of public health field, especially in relation to maternal child health. Knowledge of program evaluation is helpful.
- Ability to perform data management tasks (coding, data entry, data cleaning, retrieval, etc).
- Ability to perform basic data analysis and reporting (in words, numbers and graphics).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
- Excellent organizational skills, including ability to prioritize essential tasks.
