The Project Based Learning (PBL) Instructional Specialist, having both content and deep instructional expertise works as a colleague with academic administrators, master and lead teachers, and teachers to support student learning and teacher practice in a virtual PBL classroom. This position focuses on designing, leading and implementing solutions to professional learning needs related to PBL instruction, coaching, and leadership. The role supports others in building teaching skills, assists in applying new knowledge and provides ongoing professional development to a school or schools within the region, as a part of a team under the direction of the Instructional Methods Advisor

Designs and implements well organized individual and group learning opportunities for teachers and school leaders;
Models effective and differentiated PBL instruction for teachers;
Creates and delivers ongoing professional development for teachers and school leaders in PBL;
Assists teachers in aligning their instruction with strong teaching methods, standards, and student data;
Observes teachers and school leaders and provides meaningful feedback and coaching;
Identifies and diagnoses professional learning needs on collaboration with appropriate leadership;
Increases teacher effectiveness by improving the quality of teaching and learning through ongoing support to teachers;
Equips staff with resources and skills needed to implement effective PBL instructional practices;
Assists teachers and school leaders with implementing instructional decisions based on student data;
Assists in implementing assessment and grading practices to support PBL;
Provides expertise and advises other work within the company related to PBL;
Applies expertise to develop and recommend innovative business solutions for PBL;
Lead resource for technical issues related to PBL;
Identifies new opportunities for providing support for PBL implementation;
Provide informal technical/functional guidance or direction to other team members.
Supervisory Responsibilities:This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education AND
Five (5) years of successful teacher experience within a project-based setting OR
Three (3) years of successful experience as a PBL coach/professional developer
Equivalent combination of education and experience
Certificates and Licenses: Current, valid teaching license in at least one state
Other Required Qualifications:
Experience in designing and delivering quality professional development for all school/corporate stakeholders
Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum frameworks, and standards.
Experience in research-based instructional practices for project based learning and online learning
Strong presentation, facilitation, and organization skills
Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.); Web conferencing tools, Web proficiency.
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
Ability to clear required background check
Master’s degree in Education, Instruction, or Leadership
Interpersonal skills to create collaborative and collegial relationships with teachers and school leaders
Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
