The primary role of this position is to technically support the 45th & Dean Facility. In Addition, this position will take on a lead role in projects when assigned by department managers.
This role is based in our Brooklyn facility
Areas of responsibilities at 45th & Dean Facility include:
1. Support for Studio production including before, during, and after scheduled shoots:
a. Audio, Video, Lighting, Cameras, Switcher, etc.
1. Provides hands-on Post Production systems support for all end user issues:
a. Technical support to Mac laptop, Mac Applications, storage, IP networking, and video equipment
1. Installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of all end user hardware, software, and related peripherals
This position will also be responsible for efficient operation, uptime, and overall stability of both the Production and Post Production technical environments. Hands on operational support as well as pre-emptive and corrective maintenance on equipment is required.

Major Activities
The 45th & Dean Facility will use Cameras, Apple’s laptops, Adobe products, Black Magic product, Aspera Agents, etc. for development and production of short- and mid-form video content. This position’s responsibility is to maintain the functionalities of these systems so that acquisition, transformation and distribution of video content can completed in a timely manner.
Troubleshooting common off the shelf software such as Adobe’s Production suite, MS Office 20xx, Suitcase, Final Cut Pro, Premier, Chrome, Firefox, etc. as included on the MAC image. Required in-depth and broad knowledge in troubleshooting Apple OS X. Proficiency in resolving compatibility problems between new versions of the operating system and/or software applications. Plus solving Mac laptop problems, network connectivity, and printing issues.
Both Studio & Field Kit production equipment, Cameras, Lenses, Mics, Light Kits, Video Switcher, Audio Board, etc. will be used for video production. This Video/System Engineer will be responsible for regular maintenance to assure both business partners and engineering management that the equipment is prepared for upcoming sessions. This responsibility to the Studio and associated equipment requires the technician to be an independent worker with the ability to re-prioritize tasks and support based on the changing needs of the business partners.
A proactive approach towards maintenance (for instance, monitoring systems, to catch problems before they surfaced) to reduce downtime is expected from this position. In addition, this position requires the engineer to interpret, correlate, isolate and correct alarm conditions. Communication with the business partners before technical work is executed is a necessity.
The ability to work with all levels of staff and a wide range of technical ability in a clear and concise manner is also essential.
Projects are assigned to this position and the role of this position is to lead these projects to completion by working closely with fellow engineers, engineer management, and the business partners. Cable fabrication and installation, as well as rack mounting equipment are part and parcel to completing assigned projects. Configure and test systems in a well-organized and diligent manner, creating roll out plans and utilizing documentations to define and track progress are also responsibilities of this position. Upon completion of any project the engineer must ensure that all appropriate documentation is updated.
