Job Description & Qualifications
A career opportunity in the area of Product Development (PD) is now available for showcasing your knowledge, skills, and leadership. A key objective of this position is to identify ways to support Powertrain (PT) business needs while seeking and supporting opportunities to simplify and reduce resource planning workload across the PT Team. As a core member of the PT Business Office, within the PT Applications Engineering department, you will be working to lead and enable PT’s efforts to achieve a real bottom-line impact for the company. Interfacing with team members from Investment Efficiency, PD Resource Planning, and Finance, you will coordinate your efforts in strategically enabling a more efficient approach to delivering Powertrain systems on vehicle programs.
Support the development of the next generation Investment Efficiency model.
◦ Analyze budget and actuals data, relative to global PT engineering (headcount, prototype material, and purchased service dollars), to identify and recommend efficiencies in delivering PT systems on vehicle programs.
◦ Coordinate with global PT counterparts to align on conclusions from data analyses.
◦ Partner with team members from Investment Efficiency, PD Resource Planning, and Finance in identifying opportunities to improve engineering efficiency.
Lead US/Canada PT Budget & Headcount Team, interfacing with global counterparts to support overall global PT resource forecasting & compliance.
Support the Design Verification (DV) Efficiency team with material budget details to enable data-driven identification of opportunities to improve engineering fitness.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related degree
1+ years of experience utilizing tools for analyzing data and presenting associated findings (including during college studies).
4+ years of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (including during college studies).
Experience within Powertrain, or other PD, Engineering
Business and/or Finance background desired
Experience in data analytics and problem-solving
Ability to manage a variety of assignments simultaneously
Experience managing meeting agenda’s, WebEx, Meeting Forums, etc.
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Position is cross-functional in nature with interfaces in Investment Efficiency, PD Resource Planning, Finance, Product Planning, and Program Management presenting an excellent opportunity to develop competencies in these functions
As a representative of the global Powertrain team, position will develop comprehensive knowledge of the PT organization resulting in interactions with the entire PT leadership team
