The Packaging Design Intern is located at our Scientific Angler Offices in Midland, Michigan. This position will conduct a deep dive into our fly line packaging with two objectives. 1) Create a fresh, new carton and spool design with emphasis on environmentally friendly, "green" materials. And, 2) Create a design that is more flexible across products to reduce the number of carton skus and investment in packaging.
The position reports directly to the Merchandise Operations Manager and will interface on a daily or routine basis with the Wholesale Director, Marketing Manager, as well as our outside vendors.
Responsibilities Include:
• Design and engineer a new, cost effective fly line carton and spool that focuses on environmentally friendly materials.
• Improve the versatility of our packaging to maximize the return on investment and selling potential.
Qualifications Required:
• Currently working towards or successful completion of a Industrial Design, Packaging Design or Engineering degree.
• Knowledge of environmentally friendly packaging materials.
• Previous experience with automated packaging machine designs and constraints is a plus.
• Basic understanding of Fly Fishing.
• Motivated and Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of employees.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including strong skills in Excel and basic understanding of Word, Powerpoint, and Outlook.
Internship Outline:
The Company and Scientific Angler Internships are a 12 week, paid experience between May and September. All positions are a 40 hour per week position between Monday and Friday. Housing is not included but we can assist Interns in finding reasonable accommodations that may fit within an Intern budget. Interns will also need reliable transportation.
