Operations Manager-Moulding/Coating wanted in Plymouth, Michigan to be responsible for planning and directing the operations, work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing automotive lighting products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications; use experience in molding, coating and electrostatic coating systems; program and use FANUC paint robots; use knowledge of red spot, Sherwin Williams and GE coatings, PMMA-acrylic, pc-polycarbonate, high temp pc, ULTEM, glass filled polypro; achieve high level of cosmetic appearance, consistent part weight dimensions and make tooling changes to achieve both; use mechanical molding presses and software; develop and implement barrel purge procedures to increase part quality and machine efficiency; manage daily operations and plan the use of materials and human resources; oversee supervisors, cell leaders, process technicians and associates to ensure safety, productivity and quality on their shift; provide direction to teams with respect to all operational and quality issues; monitor inventory levels and staffing to ensure that the production schedules can be met; provide direction and support to the production supervisors and cell leaders as required; ensure all operators are trained effectively on safety, manufacturing process and quality checking aspects of their job; ensure company policies are adhered to by all production supervisors, cell leaders, and process technicians; support quality reviews at the customer locations as necessary; conduct performance reviews as required; manage and direct production supervisors to coordinate activities of the floor staff in accordance with daily production schedules and initiate changes to the production schedules as necessary; manage and direct teams in the identification of root cause problems that arise effectively and efficiently; work with JHSC to conduct audits, identify safety issues and ensure legislative compliance; make sure all necessary communication is passed on to the production supervisor coming on duty; understand the current status of all processes and equipment throughout the facility and involve the proper disciplines in problem resolution; drive continuous improvement throughout the organization (TPS); drive corrective actions with production supervisors and cell leaders; ensure that all equipment and process capacities are being maximized to achieve peak efficiencies; conduct meetings and set priorities based on the needs of the business; render decisions regarding the operation; based on customers needs, needs of the business and the needs of the employees; maintain constant understanding of KPI results such as scrap rates, downtime and efficiencies, audit results and findings from both internal and external audits (quality,environmental & safety); drive scrap and labor efficiency metrics to meet business plan goals; and comply with and ensure all employees adhere to the employee handbook and applicable standards (TS/ISO).
Requires 36 months of related experience as a Moulding Manufacturing Engineer or Production Supervisor-Moulding Department. The related experience must include experience with molding, coating and electrostatic coating systems of automotive lighting systems; experience with programming FANUC paint robots; experience using red spot, Sherwin Williams and GE coatings; experience using plastic materials in lighting processes including PPMA-acrylic, pc-polycarbonate, high temp PC, ULTEM, glass filled polypro; experience in achieving high level of cosmetic appearance and consistent part weight dimensions; use mechanical knowledge of molding presses and software; experience in development and implementation of barrel purge procedures to achieve part quality and machine efficiency; and, experience in mentoring mold process technologists. 40 hours per week; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; $105,318.72 per year.
