The NIKE, Inc. Communications team develops, establishes and strengthens authentic connections with diverse audiences through the lens of innovation and sport. The North America Communications Manager will play a key role in developing long-term communications strategies and executions to engage media and influencers across North America (NA), and help build the brand among external audiences.
As a key member of Nike’s Communications team, you will work closely with Global Communications, North America Brand and the NA Media Relations team to lead creation and implementation of a communications strategy that engages, inspires and informs audiences across the geography, with a primary focus on the Nike Field Sports, Nike Training and Nike Specialty categories.
This includes defining a clear direction for key categories each fiscal year and developing seasonal plans in concert with Global Comms, the NY-based media relations, territory, and brand teams.
You will develop strategic plans and initiatives that identify and align with business goals, and outline clear messaging and audiences. This will include efficient, timely and impactful communication across multiple channels and functions internally.
An effective candidate needs to deliver a forward-looking, innovative approach to our communications strategies and be well versed in message development, with excellent writing skills and demonstrated creative thinking.
The role requires someone with a passion for sport, innovation and design, the ability to deliver new ways of thinking and approaching the function, and to deepen and evolve Nike's relationship with the key internal and external stakeholders.
This work will include exploring new communications strategies that evolve the function, driving content development with new and diverse partners, and strategically building experiential events to lead coverage.
Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications, business, or related discipline
5 years + professional experience in a high profile communications role, either in agency or in-house
◦ 2 additional years of experience required in lieu of a degree
Media relations and Communications planning experience
Strong project management experience with events and initiatives across multiple partner relationships
Demonstrated ability to network and influence across media, connectors and influencers with a demonstrated background in pitching media
Ability to Travel, 15-25%
Knowledge of footwear, design or apparel industry
Experience working on high profile consumer brands
