Description
Role Summary:
We are seeking an energetic, creative, and proactive Product Specialist to work on the exploration, conceptualization, and design of customer experiences and products (digital and in-person) that will shape the future of how consumers own and use cars. When given green lights to move forward with pilot tests, this person will also drive many aspects of pilot preparation and execution from working with User Experience and Technology teams to bring experiences to life, to orchestrating operational roll outs.
This role sits within the Mobility & Payments team at VCI and will work hand in hand with other business managers, product managers, business analysts, operations analysts, designers, and software developers on the team. This role will have significant visibility to the senior management teams of VCI, Audi, Volkswagen, and Ducati so it is critical that you have exceptional communication and influence skills.

Responsibilities will include:
- Designing experiential research
- Participating in user research and synthesizing learnings into new product concepts
- Contributing to business cases for new product concepts
- Establishing product testing plans and building roadmaps
- Working collaboratively with key stakeholders to identify, map, and align business needs (e.g., operations, marketing, finance, people, and logistics)
- Performing industry research via news, related events, publications, and announcements to track competitors, trends, and new developments in Mobility
- Reporting and present regularly on KPI progress, success stories, and opportunities for improvement
- Contributing to the overall mobility strategy and roadmap for VCI
Role Responsibilities:
New Product/Business Concept Development – 90%
- Defining, evaluating, building towards, and launching pilots is at the core of this role’s responsibility. This person will lead cross-functional efforts that will result in new mobility concepts being launched and tested in markets around the country. The ability to deliver a working business concept will be a complex task to accomplish, as it will span everything from software development, to visual design, to business case generation, to logistical operations, to purchasing, to accounting, and customer service. This role truly has the opportunity to shape the future of VCI and VWGoA.
Strategy – 10%
- Mobility is constantly changing area of the auto industry and of VW, thus VCI’s mobility strategy will continuously evolve. This role will play a part in continuously refining our mobility strategy based on new research, insights, and strategy development exercises.
Qualifications
Experience:
Required –
- 4-6 years of experience taking new product concepts to market
- 4+ years of digital product management experience
- 3+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams
Education:
Required –
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, or Engineering
Desired –
Master’s degree in Entrepreneurship, Business, Marketing, Computer Science, or Engineering
General Skills:
- Blend of strategic and tactical thinking, creative and analytic reasoning, a deep knowledge of human-centered design, a love of data, and an interest in the auto industry
- Passion for identifying and solving real consumer and business problems
- Entrepreneurial ability to identify and prioritize opportunities in highly ambiguous contexts
- A bias to action and a proven track record of delivering both minimum viable products and scaled solutions within a matrixed organization to market at rapid speed
- Understanding of the full tech stack required to build and launch product pilots
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, tailoring the delivery and message to the audience
- Ability to partner with designers, developers, business analysts, and other business SMEs to deliver great products
Specialized Skills:
Required–
- Deep understanding and working knowledge of human-centered design, and experience managing products with this methodology
- Proficiency in customer research techniques and in-person moderation
- Expertise in combining consumer insights and data to develop new business concepts
- Comprehensive understanding of the latest web and mobile product technologies and user experience best practices
- Success in developing strong working relationships across many layers of an organization, outside agencies and suppliers
- Comfortable working with tight deadlines; must be proactive and able to multi-task.
Desired–
- Experience with new consumer and/or commercial facing mobility concepts (e.g., vehicle subscriptions, ride hail, car share, bike and scooter sharing, fleet management services)
- Experience analyzing connected car telematics data
Work Flexibility:
- Travel 20% of the time
