The Marketing Automation Technical Operations (MATO) team operates within and supports Company’s global Marketing Operations organization. Our technology, processes, and staff support a large percentage of Company’s Lead Generation pipeline, along with maintaining and synchronizing Email Preferences across the company’s technology infrastructure.
We are looking for experts who just "get" technology more than most, those who seek to understand where others stop. Those who come across a complex new topic or problem and are excited to take it apart and learn what can be done, both in the UI, and under the hood. What Are We Looking For?
MATO is seeking an experienced Manager to lead a growing team of Technical Architects who manage and secure the technology that we use and support in our Marketing Operations departments.
As a Manager of technical architecture, you will own delivery of numerous operational and human resource objectives, while driving strategy for your team, and staying attuned to the ever-changing needs of our partners and company. As we are a small team it will also be required that as part of this role our the successful candidate will be working directly in and around the Company Marketing Cloud platform supporting concurrent project releases, and are expected to become technical subject matter experts within multiple specialized areas of the applications and ecosystem we work in. This role will very much be that of a “player coach” and will be on-call experts in their supported areas, deliver fixes and solutions in a swift & thorough manner, and call out areas of improvement across the team.
Supported by our team of Solution Architects, our Technical Architect team will work closely with SAs to design, implement, test, bring live, troubleshoot, and evolve complex solutions supporting our global marketing & sales pipelines.
This position reports to our Director of MATO Solutions, with heavy overlap and collaboration across our growing organization. Out of the gate we will put your flexible mindset to work, adapting and growing our global Shared Services model, and working with you to map best practice approaches into our team and audit practices.
Successful Manager, Technical Architecture candidates are enthusiastic problem solvers who thrive on being engaged in all levels of their teams. They are strong communicators and networkers, known for developing lasting and credible alliances. They must think quickly under pressure, motivate their teams, and own the timely and accurate delivery of issue investigations, and metrics. The ability to read between the lines, anticipate issues, and communicate consistently and accurately across various channels are key requirements.
Within MATO, you’ll work closely with our Solution Architects, Administrators, DBAs, and Analysts to oversee the completion of projects of varying degrees of complexity, perform comprehensive issue management, perform audits and suggest system improvements. Finally, as with all MATO staff, you’ll raise our team’s game by making and executing ongoing recommendations to implement new tools and approaches.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Develops and manages strong credibility and relationships at the executive level, based on the proven and quantifiable impact of your team

Develops a strong network of cross-functional leaders, experts, colleagues, and friends to foster better communication, collaboration, and governance

Develops a broad technical understanding of our Marketing Automation, CRM, and integrated ecosystems
Develops a deep technical understanding of our global Lead Flow and compliance process.
Works across functions with peers in other groups to ensure collaboration for shared goals
Works with senior management and other peers for strategy development and execution planning
Manages human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, coaching, counseling, and mentoring employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions
Approves and manages staffing changes; Guides the talent identification and development processes for a group or function
Scoping / Validation of technical solutions as needed for the Marketing Technology Operations team.
Technical consultation on various aspects of marketing automation solutions, serving as Subject Matter Expert in declared product / implementation / vendor areas across Marketing and the company at large.
Investigates & solves issues with as-is developed solutions.
Develop custom solutions in the Marketing Cloud platform, leveraging supported scripting languages, SQL, API and external integrations.
Serves as a technical liaison to Marketing Cloud product teams to help support solutioning and development for new functionality and product enhancements.
Conducts solutions testing and validation, providing feedback to testing teams.
Document solutions and process flows, iterating as required.
Achieves operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change
Meets financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Presents work to stakeholders; participates in new business presentation opportunities
Travels as required.
Performs other related duties as required.
4+ years of relevant industry experience including Expert knowledge in Marketing Cloud advanced implementations, with 2+ years direct experience in the platform
Demonstrable expertise in 2+ languages and/or UI elements of Marketing Cloud a must (e.g. SQL, AMPScript, Scripting, Landing Pages, Automations, Journeys, etc).
Phenomenal leadership skills and ability to inspire team members while being an efficient team player with the ability to juggle multiple priorities under pressure and tight deadlines in a fast paced, fluid environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, impeccable eye for detail, strong organizational skills with the ability to lead and effectively manage technical discussions with audiences of varying abilities.
Aptitude to quickly understand systems and technical concepts in order to explain to business partners.
Aptitude to identify and address delivery, model, and staffing challenges.
Proven track record of escalated issue and stakeholder management.
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision while maintaining a high level of efficiency, within a distributed remote and global organization.
Self-motivated and enthusiastic with proven creative and critical thinking capabilities.
Understands and deals well with rapid development cycles and within shifting priorities; remains flexible and calm in the face of uncertainty.
Ability to lead productive calls, identify decisions made, and clearly state action items.
Proficient developing and working with SQL, experience with a RDBMS such as MySQL, Oracle, or MS SQL Server preferred.
Experience with systems integrations such as CRM, Content Management, POS/Commerce, or Web Analytics. Familiarity with security standards such as TLS, SSL, data encryption preferred.
Experience working within or with Enterprise scale organizations in a consultancy / professional services capacity a plus.
Highly proficient in MS Office, Google Docs, LucidChart / Smartsheets, virtual meeting software
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following:

Experienced in setting up and adapting global teams and governance structures.
Project or implementation management experience within SaaS, CRM, MAP (Marketing Automation Platform) is strongly preferred, especially projects within the Company Marketing Cloud.
Certifications - Holding Company Advanced Administrator & Marketing Cloud Administrator certifications are expected (preference if already held). PMP or CSM probably give you a helpful baseline but are certainly not required.
Technology - Familiarity with our tech stack is helpful: Company Sales & Marketing Clouds, common 3rd-party Event / Webinar providers, network / API
Education - We prefer a Bachelor's degree in business or computer science or relevant experience.
