Manager, Software Developmentsought by NCS Company, Inc., in Iowa City, IA. 40 hrs./wk. Responsible for driving a team of software developers and testers to successfully deliver software products. Specifically: Gathering, evaluating, and prioritizing requests for product changes, enhancements, and new features. Participating in the proposal process for winning new business. Evaluating new technologies that may be incorporated into future releases of the product. Participating in all product activities related to release and iteration planning, to ensure that the team has a clear understanding of the goals and can complete development on schedule. Creating clear and thorough acceptance criteria to ensure that the team understands when work is complete; verifying that the acceptance criteria has been met, and participating in the retrospective. Tracking project issues to completion. Maintaining close relationships with all internal stakeholders in order to communicate upcoming releases, as well as gathering feedback on customer and prospect needs. Collaborating with management to provide product status and reports on roadmap progress. Providing product demonstrations. Responsible for financial and resource planning for the team. Responsible for staff management and development, including mentoring and performance evaluations. Managing vendor relationships.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or foreign equivalent, and 7 years of experience as a Manager/Project Manager - Software Development, Software/Project Engineer, or related position in a high-tech environment. Must have software product engineering experience. Experience participating effectively and building consensus across a cross-functional, multi-national team. Experience managing multiple projects during the same time period effectively and efficiently. Experience identifying and documenting business processes and requirements. Experience in agile software development methodology. Understanding of educational assessment development process. Experience communicating business needs and ideas to technical team members, such as programmers and QA engineers, during the project life cycle. Analytical and problem-solving skills. 15% Domestic travel is required.
