Apply occupational health & safety principles in promoting the health of workers and maintaining a safe and health work environment. Position is responsible for the assessment, treatment and referrals of those associates with occupational and non-occupational illness and injuries. Manage and execute the facility Health and Safety Program. Act as the liaison between injured/ill associates and benefits/workers compensation departments. Manage the Early Return to Work Program. Provide leadership in case management, health promotion, regulatory compliance, (OSHA, FMLA, ADA, etc.) and risk reduction activities for the location. Perform other duties as assigned.
This position is based out of Secaucus, NJ.
Manage all occupational and non-occupational injury and illness including emergency response, assessment, first aid treatment & referral as appropriate.
Management of worker’s compensation claims to ensure quality care and reduction of incurred dollars as appropriate.
Responsible for managing, executing, and complying with MLO Safety program and OSHA regulations, including document management.
Integral partner in driving safety within the facility and escalating needs to appropriate business partners internal and external to the location.
Develop, establish and maintain wellness program including education and health promotion to reduce financial impact.
Coordinate health and safety training programs both internal and those provided by outside vendors to ensure compliance and risk reduction.
Facilitate and conduct inspections of building and make recommendations for improvement to processes and areas to enhance health and safety of the associates.
Provide expertise and support to process management team(s) either as a subject matter expert or team member.
Establish a business partnership to impact claims, work related injuries and overall safety, health and wellness of the associate population.
Coordinate facility training of first response teams and oversee AED program.
Manage response to any facility occupational/environmental health concerns.
Any other function management deems essential.
Responsible for compliance with drug testing policies.
Develop specific Health and Safety Training as needed by the location/network for approval by the Director of Risk Management.
Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.
RN currently licensed in state of facility location.
5-7 years of Occupational Health/Safety Experience or related field of nursing.
BSN preferred or related degree.
Must have management experience leading others, projects or processes and have successfully influenced results oriented outcomes.
Board Certification: COHN or COHN-S a plus.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certification a plus.
Must have current CPR/AED certification, eligible for NSC Instructor certification a plus.
Working Knowledge of Workers Compensation Law, OSHA regulations and safety/health regulations applicable to distribution and manufacturing environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.
Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Must have sufficient skills to understand and address the financial impact of workers compensation on the facility.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
This position involves regular walking, standing, hearing, and talking.
May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Distribution Center environment.
Interior work space without windows to the outside, located in close proximity to other associates.
Appropriate attire required.
Sense of Urgency.
Ability to problem solve with attention to detail and work independently.
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Flexibility in work schedule to support 24/7 operation.
Works harmoniously and effectively with others as part of a team.
Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of information.
Bilingual a plus.
Strong leadership profile and excellent negotiation skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs.
