Responsibilities
Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
The Lead Technical Director in the Technical Production Services Department will report to the Director of Control Room Operations and is responsible for providing technical and general supervision of all full time Control Room staff. The Lead TD will serve as a front line responder to any and all issues and concerns that arise in the various control rooms. The Lead TD also must coordinate control room projects and perform duties as a Technical Director when needed in the schedule.
Qualifications/Requirements
Qualifications:
• College Degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years as a Technical Director in a live television environment.
Requirements:
• Work as a Technical Director as needed per the schedule.
• Ability to switch fast paced live and live-to-tape Entertainment, Talk, Sports, and News oriented programming.
• Must be available to work all shifts, including early mornings, evenings, holidays, weekends, late breaking news, hurricane and other disaster recovery emergencies.
• Must be willing to travel (Including internationally) as needed, sometimes on short notice.
• Must be willing to facilitate personnel requirements including late and/or last minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production work environment.
• Experience with various production switchers i.e. Grass Valley, Ross Video and Sony.
• Remote truck production experience.
• Keep control rooms updated with latest production elements.
• Establish and implement best practices and SOPS for TDs.
• Partner with various departments to lead control room projects both in the current building
and in the new facility.
• Organize and schedule training to keep technical production staff proficient on control room equipment.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with Windows operating systems and NRCS systems (i.e. Avid iNEWS, Dalet, ENPS, etc.).
• Ability to direct pre-recorded and live segments as needed.
• Scheduling of staff using current scheduling system (i.e. ScheduALL, Xytech, etc.).
• Evaluating staff in all aspects of their job and provide input to Director of Control Room Operations for performance review.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Familiarity with control room automation systems including Sony ELC, Ross Video Overdrive and Grass Valley Ignite.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English).
Desired Characteristics
• Bachelor degree: Communications, Television Production or related preferred.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of broadcast and production technology.
• Ability to multi-task and react quickly during daily broadcasts.
• Interpersonal and professional communication skills.
