Job Introduction
The Company currently has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Project Manager within their product team (comprising Product Management, Business Analysis and Project Management) which delivers the Company’s portfolio of Interactive TV products and services (excluding Company iPlayer):
This Lead Project Manager role would include the:
• Delivery of Company Red Button products (both Internet-connected and via Broadcast)
• Delivery of Company News and Company Sport propositions for Connected TV, In partnership with Product Teams from the respective divisions
• Delivery of underlying capabilities for the Company’s Interactive TV services
• Delivery of Interactive capabilities to support Distribution of the Company on TV
Role Responsibility
Reporting directly to the Head of Product, this role will have line-management responsibility for a number of Project Managers/Senior Project Managers in London and Salford (with the majority of those Salford-based) and will be tasked with developing an empowered and high-performing Project Management team.
The successful candidate will need to work closely with the Senior Leads in Product Management, Engineering and User Experience and Design to ensure that resource is assigned effectively across disciplines to deliver the programme of work, also interfacing effectively with teams across the Company (e.g. Platform) on which the success of the programme is dependent. This role will support the Head of Product in effective budgeting.
Particular experience of managing the delivery and development of interactive television applications is desirable, though demonstrable experience of the delivery of content-driven, audience-focused propositions on web/mobile is more important.
The programme of work also requires coordination of extensive engagement with industry (Virgin, Sky, Freeview..etc), Company editorial (TV, Radio, News, Sport, Weather etc), Business Development and Distribution, along with all of Company’s digital product groups.
The Ideal Candidate
• A recognised project management qualification (e.g. Scrum Master, PRINCE2, APMQ, MSP,)
• Extensive and demonstrable experience in leading and managing large complicated (multifaceted) projects.
• Demonstrable track record of successful project delivery (including leading teams, budgeting, planning, quality management, problem solving, reporting, managing risk).
• Expert knowledge of the project lifecycle, its products, techniques, appropriate methodologies and approaches (e.g. Agile, waterfall).
• Role model for good practice in all aspects of project management.
• Excellent and well-practiced communication (verbal, written, listening), inter-personal and influencing skills.
• Demonstrable experience in building successful teams, line managing and developing individuals.
• Confident in effectively communicating and reaching agreement with difficult stakeholders, navigating ambiguous, changeable, and complex environments to achieve desired outcomes.
• Experienced in developing business cases and supporting delivery plans.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and procedures, including procurement, contract management, environment, and health and safety.
• Use of Microsoft Office tools for analysis, planning and reporting including MS Excel and Project, and expertise in presenting complex data to inform and influence a wide range of stakeholders
