"SUMMARY
The incumbent will possess the knowledge, experience and capability to analyze and manage somewhat complex investment portfolios consisting of corporate debt, municipal bonds, equity securities, and at times alternative investments. They will be knowledgeable in understanding the science of asset allocation across several asset classes. The incumbent will assist in formulating and recommending to senior management various aspects of the Division’s investment strategy. In addition to technical skills, they will have solid interpersonal skills, while being conversationally persuasive. They will possess the ability and willingness to effectively present to boards, foundations, high net worth individuals, and employees within the organization. They will build solid working relationships with their fellow bankers, and bank supervisory staff and management. New business generation will be a key aspect of the position, working with internal and external centers of influence to build and grow a book of business in the market.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the analysis of portfolios consisting of a broad range of investable assets, including money market instruments, debt securities, equities, and at times alternative assets
- Clearly convey the purpose and benefit of investment decisions, asset allocation, and assist in drafting for external clients complete investment policy statements
- Assist in the formulation, recommendations and weightings of the Division’s asset allocation models; actively engage in rebalancing the models and associated accounts.
- Analyze prospect or client’s determinants of their financial risk / return criteria and objectives, incorporating somewhat unique circumstances, and recommend the appropriate asset allocation to achieve their financial and life goals
- Being somewhat knowledgeable of current tax regulations as they apply to individuals, corporations, partnerships, foundations and successions; while incorporating such within the investment decision making process
- Develops and periodically reviews investment objectives with relationship managers and account administrators
- Communicates with relationship managers, and in conjunction with them or more senior portfolio management staff outside product and service providers, service partners – CPAs, attorneys, other professionals as necessary to formulate solutions to specific client needs
- Interfaces with the Trust Management Committee on account related investment and asset management issues
- Maintains familiarity with ongoing account activity
- Conducts formal regulatory investment review (Reg 9)
- Actively engaged in effectively implementing investment decisions in line with the prescribed IPS
- Provide support to more senior portfolio management staff
- Engages in calling program in order to develop new business as well as to retain and expand existing account relationships
- Working in concert with the bank’s officers, lenders and trust relationship management staff
- At times engage in public speaking, while actively pursuing internal opportunities, to further the awareness of our fiduciary and asset management services
- All other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
At times on a limited basis, may assist with some supervisory, work flow and analytics. This may include directing, coordinating, and evaluating designated units or certain personnel in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
Bachelor (4-year college) degree preferably in the fields of finance, accounting, mathematics, business or related areas is required; 5-10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; graduate degree, or ongoing active progress toward such is strongly desired.
COMPUTER AND OFFICE EQUIPMENT SKILLS
MS Office suite, core trust accounting system, portfolio management platform; some working and developing knowledge and utilization of: rebalancing and TOE systems e.g. Advent / Moxy, SEI 3000, Invest 3000 or similar systems; Bloomberg, Factset, Thompson Financial, CMS BondEdge, Yield Book, Morningstar, other analytical software and programs.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS (Ex: CPA, Series 6 or 7 license, etc)
Depending on evolving corporate and regulatory structure: FINRA Series 65- Registered Investment Adviser may be required; CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or active pursuit of designation strongly preferred; CFP desired.
