This internship is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Supplier Management. This position will offer an opportunity to assist on an initiative to improve communication and material flow of parts from Europe to NAFTA and NAFTA to Europe. The intern would gain experience securing the supply of parts for three customer channels.
Review and analyze component requirements to support production (multiple locations) and service demand.
Contacts suppliers for delivery and expedites material if needed.
Proactively identifies supplier backlogs. Partners with suppliers to develop backlog recovery plans and monitor effectiveness.
Addresses receiving issues identified in shift reports.
Reacts to problems experienced in receiving inbound material.
Advises management of any critical component shortages and communicates delivery promises.
Validates the accuracy of requirements and assures that suppliers meet delivery expectations.
Consults with Supplier Quality Engineer team members to ensure availability of components.
Ability to obtain and document supplier promises for delivery.
Obtains and documents build out quantities and part availability to support engineering change points into production.
Ability to respond to direct requests for service parts.
Coordinates cross functional activities within a manufacturing union environment.
Interacts with international co-workers with respect to supplier delivery.
Minimum junior level in a Bachelor’s degree program (or have graduated in the last 12 months) required
GPA of 3.0 or higher required

Pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering required
Full time availability onsite from August 2018 through January 2019 required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
Experience with ERP/MRP systems
High level of analytical and problem solving ability
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management principles
Ability to multi-task
Familiarity with manufacturing processes pertaining to powertrain technology
Understanding the importance of the relationship with suppliers
Foreign language (German, Spanish, Portuguese, or Japanese)
