This unique opportunity will be under the direction of mentors. The apprentice will develop the ability to troubleshoot, maintain and operate various mechanical systems and their components to include: industrial ammonia refrigeration equipment, HVAC, boilers, hot water, steam systems, fire / ammonia detection systems, glycol, compressed air systems and all components attached to the previous systems. The apprentice will be required to work and attend school as part of their normal work week. Some training will require travel. Flexible work schedule, weekend work and overtime required. This is an intensive 4 year program and all training is provided by Company / Wrigley Confectionary.
Capable of troubleshooting, repairing and overhauling of plant equipment within close tolerances.
Perform routine electrical and mechanical problem solving on HVAC, industrial refrigeration and utility equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance (PMs)
Support factory by operating and maintaining industrial ammonia refrigeration equipment efficiently
Document work orders (WOs) using computerized maintenance management system (SAP-PPM Plant Maintenance)
Effectively communicates with peers, operators, supervisors and contractors on a daily basis.
Provide enthusiastic support where needed and complete other duties as assigned by Team Leader.
Demonstrate engagement in project management assignments and committees.
Understand and adhere to Lock-Out Tag-Out Procedures (LOTO), PPE, Confined Space Procedures and all other Plant Safety / Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements for maintaining machine up time.
AAS in at least one of the following: HVAC or Industrial Maintenance/Electrical or Facilities Maintenance / Engineering from an accredited electro/mechanical program with a minimum 3.0 GPA. May apply if you are currently within the last semester of completing your degree.

Possess a fundamental understanding of Electrical, Mechanical Drawings and P&IDs
Possess a fundamental understanding of Refrigeration Systems
Possess a fundamental understanding of HVAC Systems
Possess a fundamental understanding of Heat Trace, Glycol and Compressed Air Systems
Possess a fundamental understanding / troubleshooting of AC/DC Electrical Systems
Possess a fundamental understanding of Building Systems
Possess strong communication skills and attention to detail
Willingness to develop required technical skills by attending classes and seminars.
Possess a high degree of working well with others in a people orientated environment.
Ability to work at elevated heights off a ladder or platform, climb stairs, leaning over equipment.
Ability to stand and / or work on feet for extended periods (minimum eight hours in one shift).
