This is a management level role that directly supports the VP of Index Administration and Operations. This role will liaison with all levels of the Index organization and supporting business groups to drive results around operational project execution, business process improvement, and strategic management initiatives.
Roles & Responsibilities
This position requires an experienced professional and self-starter who can lead operational process initiatives, resolve business problems, drive decision-making, and take a hands-on role in supporting daily business activities. This is a utility player role which will balance multiple business-related projects with varying levels of complexity and competing priorities. While this position has no direct reports right now, it will have 1-2 directs in the coming months as those positions are resourced. Key responsibilities for this role include:
Business Process Improvement: Identifies and drives ideas on business process improvement (BPI) opportunities across the end-to-end Index lifecycle. For all process improvements, building a plan around execution and rollout of tasks to drive a higher level of operational effectiveness.
Strategic Planning Support: Drives the prioritization of strategic and operational projects for the Index Administration and Operations teams. Supports management through the preparation and organization of key departmental meetings and presentations. Oversees the activation of business continuity planning and other corporate initiatives that impact the Index business. Ensures all business objectives are identified, documented, and incorporated into the corporate objectives process and ensures alignment of those objectives across the project prioritization process.
Problem Resolution / Managing Business Risk: Ensures all critical issues/business problems are being actively addressed and ultimately resolved so as not to adversely impact operations and/or clients. Ensures all business risks are documented, prioritized, and mitigated.
Execution:Responsible for leading and delivering results on prioritized business initiatives. This will require working across all levels of the Index organization as well as other supporting groups outside of Index team.
Status Reporting: Documenting and communicating progress on all open business initiatives to key stakeholders.
Change Management: Drives communications and training planning where new processes/procedures are being implemented across the teams. For example, working with the teams to create an Index Onboarding Plan and partnering with HR to build a corporate training curriculum for the Index organization.
Education, Certifications, and Experience
Education: B.A. or B.S. Degree in Business Management, or a similar discipline (MS Degree Preferred).
◦ At least 15 years’ experience working with business operations and project management is required.
◦ Previous BPI (Business Process Improvement) experience is required.
◦ Previous Financial Services industry experience is strongly preferred.
Skills, Requirements, and Competencies
Experience working with operational processes coupled with strategic business initiatives with a diverse stakeholder group.
Proven project management experience on moderate to complex initiatives.
Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
Ability to work effectively with individuals/stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Proven analytical and problem solving experience with a demonstrated ability to develop alternative solutions to complex problems and recommend the best solution to the Index management team.
Strong negotiation and influencing skills (especially in navigating stakeholder expectations and scope creep).
Experience investigating complex business process issues and connecting the dots on a more strategic level across the Index teams and other ongoing corporate initiatives.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to be both tactical and strategic in leveraging people/process/technology to solve business problems and to proactively recommend business process improvements.
Flexible and able to learn quickly.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with diverse project workload and competing priorities.
