JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Penn State Shenango campus is seeking an energetic, dynamic Head Women’s Basketball Coach for the future Women’s Basketball program. This position is new to the campus and will be responsible for initiating and administering all aspects of the program, including but not limited to recruiting, scheduling team activities, competition, training academic monitoring, budget monitoring and fundraising. This position will be part-time approximately 24-30 hours per week. The position requires previous basketball coaching experience, preferably in a collegiate program.
The Head Women’s Basketball Coach will direct every aspect of this USCAA athletic program. These duties will include:
maintaining an acceptable roster of student athletes, as determined in consultation with the Coordinator of Athletics;
directing the strength, conditioning and skill training of the student athletes in the program;
planning and coordinating effective team practices in preparation for the program’s competitions; scheduling an acceptable number of athletic contests each season as outlined by the USCAA and Penn State University Athletic Conference;
planning team travel;
serving as game coach for each contest;
coordinating fundraising activities to support the program financially;
managing the team’s budget in cooperation with the PSU Shenhango Business Office; effectively managing coaching and support staff;
representing Penn State Shenango and the Women’s Basketball program in a professional manner consistent with the mission of Penn State University.
This Position will require the successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record check as well as the standard background check.
