We are after a super-smart, plugged-in global player to lead our charge to reform the multi-trillion dollar colossus that is public contracting and procurement.
You should be at the top of your game, equally confident working at the highest levels of government and the corporate world to working with local activists pushing for change in smaller communities.
You should have a track record of major advocacy impacts and a global network that you can leverage in this role to build on our existing examples of compelling impact in countries. You will also build on our ground-breaking work responding to the COVID-19 pandemic to make the case for strategic, long term public procurement reforms as part of a sustainable, inclusive economic recovery.
This is a full-time position, working with our small but superb team around the world. The right candidate with the requisite strategic vision, team leadership, fundraising and organisational development skills, can join us as a director and member of Company’s senior management team.
Advocate for open contracting at the highest levels of government, multilateral organisations, businesses and with civil society. Participate and lead relevant conferences, meetings and public events.
Work with partners around the world to drive their advocacy and campaign to success converting into clear commitments to change from governments with robust mandates, resources and accountability for progress. A key requirement is someone who can meet partners where they are and best identify Company to help them get to advocacy impact both inside and outside of government.
Proactively identify, develop and leverage productive relationships with key opinion formers and policy makers globally, including making sure Company’s voice is heard on the world stage, especially as we move to planning a sustainable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Influence a broad range of decision makers and opinion formers through robust and evidence-based research and advocacy including crafting concise, effective and engaging advocacy materials to the highest standards.
Help Company develop and build a portfolio of projects and impact stories from our partners on the ground.
Be extremely organised so you can track multiple engagements at once and bring them all to the boil to get impact.
Work proactively to boost Company’s public and social media profile in collaboration with Company’s communications team including being prepared to draft compelling materials to get our message cross. Where appropriate, develop strategic and ongoing relationships with members of the media and proactively look for innovative ways to communicate our core messages.
Strong learning mentality, able to share and reflect on challenges in an accessible way that builds trust for Company to do even better in future.
Additional responsibilities for a director level appointment
Help the Executive Director and management team of Company craft, implement and report on a compelling vision for global change remaining clear about our added value and driving continual impact and organisational improvement.
As a member of the management team, model and promote excellent practices across the whole of Company, contributing to building new programs and services, adding value to them and being Company at seeking and soliciting funding.
Manage projects and executive responsibilities across Company as agreed with the Executive Director.
Superb advocacy skills with a demonstrable track record of global and local impact involving substantial international normative commitments, national policy changes and following those through to implementation and practice
Sophisticated understanding of Company to overcome political economy issues and vested interests that block change.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Great communicator across international audiences with excellent written and spoken English, able to produce compelling copy quickly and accurately.
Clear understanding of the non-profit world that Company operates in with a global network of Companies who you can leverage to advance Company’s mission.
Fluency in other languages is highly desirable, especially Spanish or French.
Valid work permit for US, UK or Canada is desirable.
Skills and experience for Director of Advocacy
In addition the skills and experience noted above, a Director level candidate will possess:
Demonstrable senior management experience supporting organisational growth and development
Expertise and insight into running an organisation, especially unite in transitioning from a start-up to scaling globally
Track record in supporting organisational fundraising and of managing budgets
Experience with grants management and reporting (as grant recipient)
Strong reputation for integrity, listening and leading, being an excellent management and encouraging a learning culture in an organisation
Impeccable integrity and a high energy level.
Engaging and tenacious campaigner, able to work a room and work out Company our audience can help deliver great results for our mission.
Proactive & focused on delivery and getting tasks done.
Ability to work independently on assignments.
High attention to detail.
Can prioritize well, effectively handling regular deadlines and last minute requests.
Innovative problem solver, takes the initiative to figure out effective solutions

Be prepared for extensive travel (at least 30% of the time), sometimes at short notice.
