Business Unit Overview: GSO Capital Partners LP is the global credit investment platform of Company. Our credit segment, which consists principally of GSO, has approximately $139 billion of assets under management. GSO is one of the largest alternative managers in the world focused on the leveraged-finance, or non-investment grade related, marketplace. GSO seeks to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns in its business by investing in a broad array of strategies including mezzanine debt, distressed investing, leveraged loans and other special-situation strategies. Its funds are major providers of credit for small and middle-market companies and they also advance rescue financing to help distressed companies.
Job Title: GSO Advantage Analyst
Job Description: The GSO Advantage team acts as an extension of our deal originations teams helping to differentiate our capital in the market. GSO Advantage is able to leverage the scale, network, and expertise of Company to drive meaningful benefit to our private equity customers and portfolio companies. We are able to leverage the capabilities of Company’s portfolio operations team, the cross-selling opportunities throughout the portfolio, and a network of experts to drive value.
Responsibilities: The Analyst is charged with supporting GSO Advantage-related activities. This will include supporting key initiatives across GSO, such as the Group Purchasing Program, cross-sell, business presentations and senior executive conference planning and organization. The Analyst will be exposed to many different value creating initiatives across many diverse industries. This requires detailed project management skills, strong analytical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and general business knowledge
Responsibilities may include:
Provide analytical analysis and on‐site support of key initiatives across the portfolio including the group purchasing organization (GPO), cross‐selling, leadership summits, roundtables, quarterly reports, and other functional initiatives as needed.
Use of Excel to manage GPO projects, PowerPoint, and Company website to help manage portfolio company data and maintain contacts across all companies.
Help drive the cross‐portfolio group purchasing initiative including tracking progress, summarizing the savings opportunity, working with the portfolio companies’ procurement/IT/HR/Marketing and other functions to execute the program and interface with our GPO partners.
Support expansion of new categories globally. Current scope includes 75+ categories across 80+ portfolio companies.
Respond to on‐going data and reporting requests from senior GSO management. Also includes the quarterly CEO survey response collection and reporting.
Support Leadership Summit and periodic round table planning, design, and execution including working closely with Events to ensure sessions are value additive.
Qualifications: Company seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. In addition to strong analytical and quantitative skills (e.g. an undergraduate degree with a focus in economics, accounting/finance, business management, data analytics), he/she will have 2-3 years’ work experience at a highly competitive company within the industry, at a consulting company or an accounting firm preferably with an operations focus. Ideally, the candidate’s experience includes supporting operational improvement initiatives and working with clients.
The successful candidate should have:
Strong analytical skills and tools including Excel, PowerPoint, Company website and other data management applications. Extremely well organized and disciplined approach to work effort.
Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
The ability and interest in being “hands on” to support the team
Superb interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication on strategic, financial and operational areas
Active listening skills with the intellectual agility to integrate new information and develop recommendations
Establish fact-based recommendations and decision making
Ability to work independently if needed and navigate a dynamic environment including partnership with various people to accomplish key initiatives.
